I got my comment removed from engadget

Hi guys

I made a comment on Engadget.com about the new review they made about iphone 4.

iPhone 4 review -- Engadget

This is what i said:

I said that they are huge ass kissers, and got there nose up apple ass so far they can breath threw same nose as STevey Boy. Also said they should change the name from engadget to applegadget.com

And there review is bias and that they are disgusting also said they make it seem that g-d came down and made the phone. Said they are just fanboys and should not write reviews cause they are ass kissers. So I got notification that my comment will be reviewed and i will get email from them. First they let me post then sent me that notification. Now is that nice for saying the truth, truth hurts.

Just wanted to share this with my fellow Android friends.

Try to use a few factual statements in your critical posts instead of just throwing fecal matter at the walls.

I would have removed it too, and in fact I have when people have posted that kind of stuff in the forums. There's a difference between constructive criticism that's suitable for all viewers and flaming, which is a huge turnoff for some & entertaining for others. Personally I thought his positive review of the iPhone was just as fair as his positive review of the Incredible. In both cases he gave the respective fans a reason to be excited that their day had come.

It is not the review part as how he brown noses, he never says anything bad or find anything bad about it. Hard to believe that there is nothing negative about it. That is a well known apple fan boy site, always dress apple as if g-d himself created it, come on guys give me a break you know what i am saying is the truth, maybe i used harsh words but those words are the truth. We all know it very well. It is still no reason to remove my comments, i can say what ever i want, i did not use any bad words, just the truth. If I agreed and brown nosed the editor i would have gotten praised. If you say you are a fair site and review all gadgets fairly then do otherwise dont BS anyone.

I agree with the others, I would have removed the comment too. If you felt that they overlooked something about the device, you should have brought up that specific thing. Blanket libelous statements are never good, and while you may have the freedom of expression, it is a privately operated site and they have the right of censorship.

By flaming in the comments, you (the OP) contributed nothing that was constructive to the post. I have come across many reviews that were biased or just flat out wrong. And if I've called them out on it, it was professionally and with supporting facts. Doing what you did proves absolutely nothing and provides no worth to the thread or its comments.

Yeah, some people may find comments like that funny (they're usually the same people who wait for posts to appear to comment saying "FIRST!!!"). But to the general public and the ones legitimately interested in tech discussion, it is a waste of time. Your type of comment is much worse than brown-nosing.

So yes, your comment was rightfully removed.

I had a comment deleted from engadget, also, a couple weeks ago. It wasn't inflammatory, but a response to someone asking why engadget was writing so many pieces on ESPN lately. I simply posted that Engadget was owned by AOL which is business partners with ESPN. And that was deleted. Seems like a little disclosure about that would be professional.

But the iPhone 4 review seemed ok to me.

there will always be bias opinions but you can't attack someone for it. they make their reviews based on their opinion of the product. some people don't see negative functions as being negative others might.

you need to act and speak in a professional manor for any point to be taken seriously. i don't mean that as an attack towards you but just in general. if you went on a job interview in a t-shirt and shorts without a resume but you had a good story, do you think you got the job? how about if you wear a nice suit and a few copies of your resume and you are organized. there is definitely an better chance their.

what i am trying to get at is that if you are trying to make a point or a good argument, you must do it in a way that makes the other person think.In most cases you will not get anywhere with an attack like you posted on engadget.

Not a fair review extremely BIAS, if they are so bias then they should rename the site or open another one and just rave about the apple products. No matter how much you like the product you always have to be fair and in the end just write your opinion about it. I wrote what i felt about that site, any phone that comes out they always write little bit negative comments about it, but not with iphone. To them iphone is the holy grail.

Just because others are flaming too doesn't give you the right to. If you were at a bar and a group of horrible-non-deserving-of-life people started slipping roofies into cocktails, would that give you the right to do the same? And if you got caught, would you then say you shouldn't get in trouble because others do it? That's not how it works.

What you're failing to see is that if you have a serious problem with the site, the best (and only) thing you can do to properly express your point is to not visit it anymore. Why, you may ask? Because even if you are strictly going there to flame, bash, and insult, you are still giving them exactly what they are looking for: page clicks. The more visits they get equals more potential ad revenue which is what keeps them going. If you decided you didn't want to shop at a local store in your town any more because the manager/staff there are constantly rude, would you make a special trip there every day and buy a candy bar so that you can then scream out to everyone there "these guys are rude!!!!! Store A rulezzzz!!!!"? No, you just simply wouldn't go there anymore. Same applies in the blogosphere.

Wow, no wonder the comment was removed. You keep saying "I'm telling the truth" and "the truth hurts" but the fact of the matter is, you don't have to post something that makes you sound like a jerk (not calling you a jerk cause I don't even know you but the post does sound jerky). You really think anyone is gonna take you seriously if you start calling everyone an ass? I know I sure wouldn't and I know all (if not, most) people here wouldn't either.

The saying "You attract more bees with honey than with vinegar" comes to mind here. Maybe if your post was worded better it wouldn't have been deleted so quickly.

Personally, I think it would have been far better for Engadget to actually engage their detractors rather than resort to deleting posts. A rebuttal would have made for an interesting read. IMO, they are indeed generally very biased toward Apple, however, lately they have been very generous to Android as well and I still frequent that site so they're certainly not all pro-Apple (imo). In fact they were very quick to report all the iPhone 4 flaws they've encountered which was pretty refreshing given the fact they were so easily bamboozled by all the glitz in their review.

You think Engadget is biased for Apple? The second most commented story on that site right now rightfully pillories apple for their videos and pictures that show the iPhone4 being held 'wrong'. Yeah, their review was a bit gooey, but then again, so was their review of the Nexus One, Droid, and Evo.

Translation= They said they liked a product I don't like, so I thought that I should be able to say whatever I wanted about them even if it was rude, uncouth, and frankly, imbecilic.

P.S. The word you're looking for is BIASED, not Bias.
