It's running very slow and rarely downloads, especially with play store. I have plenty of memory and unlimited data plan. Resetting apps and rebooting phone doesn't correct this. I have also tried shutting the phone off. I do have an app called "Secure Settings". I'm hesitant to use this as I am somewhat of a novice with it. LOL.

The device is inexpensive - and that should be borne in mind - but does have the Snapdragon 425 processor in its favour. Even with 1gb of RAM, which is on the low side by today's standards, it should not be giving trouble of the kind you describe.

Try a Cache Partition wipe, as helpfully described here: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-33683

Try also Settings, Storage, Cached Data, and clear the cache.

If those things don't help, say.

Also, is your mobile signal good, and wifi if you are using?

Try clearing the system cache partition, this might clear up random operating system glitches and it's relatively safe to do as it does not affect any of your personal data (the system cache is its own dedicated partition, completely separate from the user data partition where your files and other personal data are stored). To wipe the system cache partition you need to boot your phone into its Recovery Mode and use the text-based menus to navigate to the 'wipe cache partition' option:
ZTE Avid Trio Z833 - Recovery Mode - HardReset.info
Use your phone for a few hours after doing this and if there's no improvement you might want to think about doing a Factory Reset. Note this will wipe the /data partition, where your personal data is stored so BE ABSOLUTELY SURE you've done thorough backups of all your personal data before doing a Factory Reset. And don't just go through the motions of backing up your data, confirm your data is actually backed up by checking the media you've backed up to. The Factory Reset
option also requires you to boot your ZTE into its Recovery Mode (and apparently ZTE refers to the process as a 'Hard Reset'):
ZTE Avid Trio Z833 - How to Hard Reset my phone - HardReset.info
A Factory Reset is something of an extreme step (as it wipes your personal data) but if your ZTE is still acting up, you might want to go for the 'nuclear' option, re-flashing the stock ROM. Flashing a ROM is essentially the same as doing an operating system reinstall on a computer:
Download ZTE Avid Plus Stock Firmware ROM
Good luck fixing your phone. Whatever the situation get it working normally again. For your own peace of mind you don't want it annoying you each time you use it.
