I hate my Nexus 4 right now!

I actually did have a few issues after I got the OTA update, but I think it was just from a few apps that needed to be updated. After 3 days all the apps were updated and everything is running fine.

I think the problem is that they don't realize that a Nexus is actually a developer device. We get thrown to the lions first. If you don't like this then don't do the update until a month after it comes out. Problem solved.

I don't think waiting is worth it for this update because the number of people experiencing issues is quite small. I'm realistic enough to believe there are certainly some that had problems, but not enough to feel those cases mean that the update itself was bad.

This is all part of the Google Nexus experience. You want fast and timely updates? You get them. Are they perfect and bug free all the time? No. Does Google patch/update them, yes many times they do.

Aside from being known as a developer device for Android app devs, you as a consumer take part in the beta testing sorta speak of the latest and greatest versions of Android to come down the pipeline. With that comes the occasional bug or problem.

Enjoy it! It's pure Google :)

It all depends on the apps people are using. The more active apps and widgets the more things that need to be updated. 2-3 weeks after the update things work perfectly for pretty much everyone.

Mine is running amazing now. Plus the new update to Nova launcher is excellent.

To people who think this thread was rude, sorry that you think that but as stated earlier this thread is a thread for fresh air. Do you really want to go to a forum everyday reading bad things about a software update? There is always two sides to a story so I decided to bring out the good side while most people were only discussing the bad side. Don't get your panties in a wad, this is a general forum which means general topics, perfect and not perfect are both general topics!

Sure I agree but what I had issue with is posters assuming others are "doing something wrong" etc. That's just crazy talk.

Bottom line people, is that most of the "bugs" are actually apps that need updating, that are written by thousands of app creators since Android is open platform. It's just a matter of the app creators, updating their stuff, and everything works without issues. Ranting like a lunatic because a couple of apps are buggy after the update, is pretty bizarre, in my opinion.

Perhaps but again, there are always complaints about OS level bugs too. Nonetheless, people can complain about whatever they want given these are forums :)

Hey guys,

Quick question here for all the Nexus 4 users, how is the battery life on yours, as I read alot of people's battery life getting affected by this new update. Does your phone still last through the day, any details and scenarios would be helpful. Deciding on if I should update.

Thanks a bunch,
Tom

For me, no difference (if any, it's very slightly) in both standby and SOT.

Do you find your phone to overheat at all from usage? and how long does it last your through after a day?

The only reason that some people have complained about this is due to apps that haven't been updated. I had a few that were causing things to overheat and use more battery but once the devs updated I've been getting good battery. As good or better than before.

In standby, my battery lasts noticeably longer

My N4 had wake lock issues after the update. Once I resolved those, my battery life has been excellent. Better than before. I'm actually quite impressed. 3+ he's screen on time over a span of 12-14 hrs. Standby drain is very minimal.
