I hate this phone since the Lollipop update

if you're going to go that far try factory resetting your phone it should run much better :)
if you just hate the update in general sorry I can't help you there :(
Hope the iPhone treats you better.

My phone keeps getting worse. It appears to be working on dial-up speed. Today it put itself on silent twice after I put it on audible. It's constantly dropping wifi, apps continually crash, the home button won't wake up the screen until I push it several times. Today I was in the middle of typing a text message and another app opened itself over the message app, when I hit the home button to close an app and go to the home screen the keyboard stays open over the homescreen. The screen gets very hot along with the back of the phone and the keyboard stalls while I'm typing so words don't get entered correctly.

I honestly hate it and can't wait for Oct when I can upgrade.

Anyone else with similar problems?

I have the same problem and I hate android lolipop I also did a mistake updating my phone I was very happy with kitkat

I hated it until I fixed it without wiping it.

! WARNING ! DOING THE FOLLOWING STEPS WILL RESET YOUR HOME SCREEN SHORTCUTS AND WIDGETS MAKING IT TO WHERE YOU HAVE TO PLACE THEM AGAIN (to me is less annoying than wiping). ! WARNING !

How I fixed TouchWiz is clearing the data.

Steps for TouchWiz

Settings -> Applications -> Application Manager -> ALL -> TouchWiz Home -> Clear Data

OR

Steps for TouchWiz easy home

Settings -> Applications -> Application Manager -> ALL -> TouchWiz Easy Home -> Clear Data

Hope I helped.

Blame your provider for all issues, people, not the phone or Lollipop itself. Today AT&T has released the official Lollipop (5.0) update for Galaxy S5, I've installed it and my S5 is perfectly fine so far - no app crashes, less "lag" than with 4.4.4, no overheating of any kind, battery life is same (or slightly better). Didn't even have to do a "factory reset".

I also have att, and my phone overheated after the update and my battery was draining, even after clearing cache. So even the att update might require a factory reset. Mine did.

I too am having a ton of issues since lollipop and they seem to be getting worse. I've cleared the cache as suggested. Email takes forever to load, press icon for any app and it takes forever to open or it freezes. Phone constantly freezes up. Hate, hate, hate.. and I really liked my S5 before lollipop. Ready to toss this phone.

I LOVED my Android until Lollipop. PLEASE GIVE ME BACK THE PROGRAM I HAD BEFORE. Lollipop BLOWS. I really mean this. If you don't get rid of it or allow me to make it look like KIT KAT I will switch to Apple I-phone. I really mean it. LOLLIPOP sucks. I don't use my Android phone half as much now. What in the hell were you thinking ????????????

A couple of options:

1. The folks frustrated with Lollipop can continue to stay frustrated and yell at Verizon and Samsung and the Gods and hold you collective breaths till you turn blue (those things probably won't help, but you will feed the healthy sense of righteous indignation).

2. Go back to your iThings. Reinsert yourself back into the Matrix. Become part of the collective, and take comfort in the knowledge that you will no longer be burdened with decisions about the look, feel, personalization, media preferences, software and etc. This will all be done for you. After all, Apple knows best.

3. You could back up your data and do a factory reset like the entire planet has suggested and get a great phone back. I agree that you shouldn't have to do that. Kinda stinks, but as the cliche goes... It is what it is. It's small price to pay for a fantastic phone.

Well said sir...well said.

Not only are there performance issues, but my phone now looks like a toy from Fisher Price. I am a business professional and the last thing I need are little colorful circles everywhere.

Attention Samsung: Please stop dumbing down technology.

Pffh "it is what is" I'm not going to be content with this POS and it's NOT a small price to erase all your data to have a functional phone were far too content with issues like this nowadays and I'm done being a Google apologist.

OK I'm done

You are on Verizon's version of Lollipop which is a hybrid, custom carrier version of Lollipop that, thankfully, is not shared by the rest of the world.

See #1.6 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

I agree that the Verizon firmware is, without a doubt, the worst version of Lollipop worldwide and is responsible for the overwhelming number of Lollipop complaints on here and other forums.

Verizon needs to do 3 things to cut down on the unbelievable number of problems associated with their version of Lollipop...

1. Stop messing with the Lollipop firmware and let Samsung take over. (see #1.6 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide)

2. Stop cramming in so much performance and battery draining carrier bloatware. This was the purpose of their original, unique, 2 stage update for Lollipop.

3. Update the oh so old pre release version of Lollipop they use, which lacks a lot of the features and a whole host of bugfixes that the worldwide models enjoy. (see post #1 of Lollipop release. Massive update!!!)

Most Verizon users think that everyone's Lollipop update is the same as theirs and do not know that their version of Lollipop is nothing like the other 300+ firmwares that Samsung have released, so far, worldwide.

My problem is I've done 3 factory resets since the Lollipop update and I'm still having major issues. I have tried slowly adding apps, documenting as I go, to see if one of them is the problem, but it runs fine for a week or two then starts acting up. There has to be something weird going on with an app somewhere otherwise everyone would be having these issues, right? Every tool I've tried to see if there is a rogue app just shows the Android processes as the culprits. In fact, as I typed this I tried several times to go to Settings -> Battery to get the name of the processes and it just kept crashing saying "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." I just pulled the battery an hour ago. Sigh.

I am also running a bloatware version of Lollipop. 5.0 in Canada on Bell Mobility. I have received two 5.0 updates, both in March and it seems that there are no more on the horizon. The 2nd update was a week after the first, and apparently fixed issues that I did not experience. I firmly believe that my firmware is not anywhere NEAR as heavy as the Verizon versions (from what I am reading) because seriously - this phone is fantastic.

It's fast. The battery will easily last a full day for me with moderate use. It's fast. No dropped calls. No dropped Wi-Fi. No dropped data connection. No missing SMS/MMS messages. Rock solid. And not to rub salt in the wounds of those having problems, I have NEVER (EVER) done a full factory reset on my device. Not even after the major upgrade from 4.4 to 5.0. Will I get an ever better experience if I do? Probably, but why bother?

Canadian phones are on a much later and higher changelist firmware than Verizon, (everybody is!), See post #1 of Lollipop release. Massive update!!! The original firmware release for all Canadian Lollipop versions, was withdrawn by Samsung shortly after release for a minor bugfix update and was re-released 10 days later. Unlike the Verizon firmware which is heavily modified by Verizon and heavily bloated, the Canadian firmwares are issued and controlled by Samsung.

At this point, #2 sounds great to me.
