i hate to liten to VM on the phone what are the other options arent there programs that turn VM into emails. or what other options are there. i know i can sut it down but people do need to leave me VM what do you all suggest.

I have used Google Voice for a long time and love it. It replaces the Verizon voice mail, and basically turns voice mails into emails that you can read and listen to whenever you want, in whatever order you want. If you don't like Google Voice, You Mail is another good alternative. Don't get Verizon Visual Voicemail. Google Voice and You Mail are both better and free...

Google Voice. The transcription is great and if you not able to listen/ hear it you sure can read it.

There's also youmail. It's fun because you can have different messages played for different contacts. I liked it better than google voice when I was only using them as a voicemail replacement, but it's been a little while since I've used youmail.

Google voice.

I still remember when I canceled visual voicemail, the VZW report asked why and I said I'm using Google voice and they give it to me for free. She had never heard of it. LOL

You mail has this service. There is a fee, though

You can change this on the Google Voice site so that it displays the number of the person calling instead of your Google Voice number.

Download from Market

Then it just said searching for call settings.

after 5 min of that I deleted app.

I powered off.

Tried again and no luck... Grrrrrrr It shouldn't be this hard or buggy

Where is the google voice install (Verizon) for dummies on the GNex thread? I want to use my own number and don't need a Google number...

If you just want Google Voice for voicemail, you don't need to use that # for calls.... You can use it for JUST voicemail if you want for your current VZW number.

When you receive a call on your VZW # and miss it, it just forwards to your GV # and leaves the message. Your caller doesn't know the difference. All it does is replace the VZW Voicemail service with Google Voice Voicemail service. You continue to use your same VZW # with no changes, outgoing calls still use the VZW #.

There are multiple levels of using Google Voice. And most people are just going to use the most simple one of just Voicemail. You shouldn't go messing around with porting your number and doing forwarding unless you really need all of that.
