I have a brand new S8 that won't turn on or show charging LED.

I have a brand new S8 that won't turn on or show charging LED. I've plugged it in with a wall charger and it shows the charging symbol flashing on and off and vibrating. I have tried to turn it on with the power button and down-volume combined, it shows the Samsung homescreen briefly and then disappears again. Does it just need more time to charge?

I believe you should see the battery charge level on the screen if the phone is off. You should return the phone to the seller and either get a replacement or get your money back.
