I have a concern about updates

Have been a LG owner in the past (G3) and and seeing the limited stock and delayed release I wonder if we will get timely security and Android N updates.

It's already on N, security updates are certain to exist, at least sporadically, though LG's track record is that they will not be every month nor on the first day a patch is available.

Yes we are on N but it's 7.0 I am concerned about the incremental updates the 7.1 and so on when I had the G3 on tmo it to 4 ever to get marshmallow and we only got 5.0 while all other oem rolled out the .1 and so on. I like LG and want to see them do well the V20 is a nice phone I just hope they abandon it for their next big thing.

I've been under the impression that LG is not the best with updates.

I think 7.1 is playing hell for the pixel and Bluetooth. Glad we don't have 7.1 right now. I like what is in my hand now and not concerned about updates if all is working (which it is) . What would concern me is if stuff was broken and I didn't have an update promptly.

Truthfully as long as the phone works I could less about updates. I still have a droid maxx running kikat that does see any updates and it works fine.

Working is one thing, being secure is a whole separate discussion. Many of us use our phones for financial services such as online banking or credit cards. All of our social logins, email, geolocation and other personal information are on our devices as well.

Bottom line is that security is paramount these days. One bad app or unsecured network may expose vulnerabilities and lead to a compromised identity.

I've been ok so far..I've come to the point of my life where I can't worry about stuff like that anymore.

Jeez, really! I still have two of them, but one is cracked and the other is flickering whenever I turn it off (Known issue with that phone.)

Amen! That's mostly how I feel unless the update brings some earth shattering dramatic change. Some worry about getting updates before Google can even pups them out decently but different strokes....

If updates are paramount to you how can you feel safe using anything but a nexus/pixel device? What other Android phone gets updates even nearly as fast?

I feel like if there's an important security update it generally gets publicized and the OEMs/carriers generally get them out in what could at least loosely be called a timely manner. I may have my head in the sand but if so I haven't suffocated yet.

It is definitely an odd issue. Some people say that it just won't connect or work with their cards or whatever but my gf's car works on my Pixel and the BT headset I use at work is working just fine. Seems a hit or miss.

Really, worried about up-dates so soon? We are on the newest OS and there is only a minor up-date for a Google phone out......
I am more worried about the App world up-dating so every app works on Android 7.0!
Heck, there are phones and tablets that are still on Honeycomb/Ice Cream.

Lateck,

coming from the juggernaut that is Samsung paired with AT&T for updates, I feel lucky to be on the newest OS to begin with.
