How does the screen compare to the Note 7 regarding how it collects oil/smudges and stuff ?

I swear the Note 7 I had it's screen was a gift from God. It never seemed to collect oil/finger prints and resisted smudges so well that they were just about non existent. I never had to wipe the screen down, but every other phone I've had has been a FP/smudge magnet you need to wipe down several times a day.

Does it have multicolor led notifications like the Note 7?

I found it does not. Apparently there is some way to light up edges for notifications but I don't know if each app will have a different color or even if I am right about edge notifications?

Is this true? No multi color LED notifications? That is a big disappointment to me.

I played with one at Best Buy, and I have to say that it's probably the best of the new Samsung devices. One thing I've disliked about the recent ones is just how integrated the metal is, especially on the sides. It ends up being just too slippery.

The Note 8, though, has a slightly wider band of metal, and it's flat which makes it easy to grip. That, combined with the tighter radii of the curves makes it feel fantastic. It also has those nice squared off corners and a nice heft to it.

If I had to summarize the design, it would be as a grown up version of the S8+. I was trying to wait for the V30, or even the Pixel, but Samsung is making it mighty hard to do.

I got to play with it at my carrier store yesterday. However unfortunately it was bolted down to the table. I was impressed with how slim it was and how flush the cameras were. I don't really care about protruding cameras but I liked how flush they were. They didn't have the maple gold on display but even the midnight black looked slick and elegant. They had it next to the S8+ and I preferred the rectangular shape of the note 8 and to me at least the display of the note 8 was noticeably bigger. It looked wider.

The S-pen was my favourite part of it though. It felt really good in the hand and writing and drawing was smooth and felt natural. I even got to use the sparkly pen (live messages).

Can't wait til the 15th now.

Apart from the tricky stuffs like bokeh or live focus, optical zoom and dual capture ..... Is there any noticeable difference between the camera of the s8 and the note 8 in term of clarity or the picture quality.

I hope that's true. I would like a second confirmation on that. I did see that Erica mentioned it. Just want to make sure she is not mistaking a sensor for an LED.

I had the Note 2,3 and 4, the Note 5 wasn't released in the UK and for warranty issues I didn't get one, Note 7 was my target after my Note 4 contract was up but we all know what happened there, so I pinned my hopes on this Note 8 and I'm not disappointed so far!

I know it's sad that the last note we've had in the UK was the note 4, which was my last note phone. I had the original note, the 3 and the 4.

Thanks. That's a key feature for. me if I'm going to tolerate the 2/1 screen ratio. At least it retains one of my favorite features.
