Welcome to Android Central! How many different headsets have you tried? Make sure the headsets are fully charged, since a low battery can lead to intermittent dropouts.
If you're on wi-fi as well, see if the dropouts still occur with wi-fi off. 2.4 GHz wi-fi channels can theoretically interfere with Bluetooth (which is also 2.4 GHz), so if the dropouts go away when you turn off wi-fi, then you might have to use 5 GHz (if available on your router), or go into the router settings and change the wi-fi channel it's using.
