I have to destroy my fassie, suggeations?

Just to be clear...there are no forum rules being violated here.

A good parallel for this would be free wireless tethering. We talk about that all day long. This is just another way of getting over on the carrier. They have rules for how many claims you can make for a reason. They know people aren't always honest when they file them.

The thing with me is that I am not trying to really get over on them. I have a legit claim by their rules, they just don't think it is damaged "enough" to warrant a replacement.

When I got the insurance through best buy, they said I could return it for anything up until the warranty runs out. I had a legit accident with the phone, it is scratched and dinged all to hell and I just want the replacement as they stated I could have. The first 2 questions from the CS reps and managers I talked to were is the screen damaged (not a nick on it) and does it power on (which it does).

After that they turned a deaf ear. I do not agree with trying to get over on them, all I want is for them to live up to what they said. If they did that, all they would have to replace is the casings and they would have a quick refurb. The guts seem fine and the screen is gold. They would save a ton of dough right there

My choices now are live with a terribly ugly phone, or do this one more harm. I am going the more harm route.

I like the oil idea.

Right now I think I might see how tough the glass really is with a few m-100's then boil it in oil. the only thing I am not fond of with the oil is the fire hazard it could propose, but I am guessing it just might melt after a few seconds in the oil. I also have to wonder how I am gonna scrape it off of the pan to send back....

That would take out the microwave too.....so that one is out.

Take out the microwave?
Nah...

I don't mean to leave it there for 5 minutes. I just mean to microwave it for 5 seconds, and I'll bet it is dead. You get a replacement for a dead unit, right?

If that doesn't work, I have an 18kV ESD gun handy......

No I wasnt really thinking of 5minutes either, but even a few seconds will cause sparks with the metal....

Thinking about it though, a few ticks in the nukker might be good for the video....

Now that is a good start....but I am worried this one might survive. It already jumped from a car going sixty, got run over and survived with just scratches and bruises..well and one app that wont work anymore

It has to be a certain death...

wash it with yer clothes... that'll get it for sure

Target practice?

My initial response was: "Shoot it in the head, then give it a burial at sea"

The SEALs already took that one, though.

Da Dum Tsshh

I suggest throwing it in a vice and flattening it slowly and then hitting it with a hammer... You could say your kid had a hold of it and threw it out the window on the highway.

Only one vote so far for target practice? Then you can tell the insurance company you got shot at with the phone in your pocket, and it took the bullet for you. They will think you are so hardcore, they won't give you another instant of trouble before shipping you a new phone.

Tell them it was a romantic moonlit night...you and your girlfriend/wife/fill in the blank were relaxing by a railing on the Ledo deck, and in a passionate embrace, this girl accidently undid your holster, and your prized fascinate fell haplessly into the ocean, the vaunted AMOLED screen winking into the umplumbed depths of the Marianas. Nothing to turn in, just a sad story with a happy ending. Then get yourself a mold, a bunch of epoxy, and make yourself a nice doorstop.

Ok here is what you do... You put your fascinate behind the driver's side back wheel right underneath those beautiful 22" rims you have. Make sure all 4 wheels are lined up straigh. Get in the car , turn it on and hit "REVERSE" .. Back out in a straight line ...make sure your rear wheel runs over it, followed by your front wheel.. then move forward, then reverse and keep moving back and forth 5 times. Park your car. Grab your Fascinate get back in your car and drive to best buy .. tell them you just got off from work and when you were getting your keys out of your pocket you dropped your phone without you realizing it and that you accidentally "Ran it over " and they will gladly replace it. It works ... Trust Me :-D

No nail gun its like shooting it with a 22 but it will have the nails in it don't take them out just sent the whole thing back.

Use it to play "Cell Phone Golf"!
Tee it up at the course and using your new driver, see how far you can hit it. Then, if you can find it, turn in whatever's left.

One of the best parts of the BB insurance is that you dont send it in, you hand it in...the look on thier face would be priceless

If you crack the screen it shouldn't be a problem to exchange...however running over it with your car would work although it's not that creative. Don't forget to flash it back to stock first!

Ok I got it ...just hose the phone down. Place it in a lead box. Tell them you were on assignment at Fukushima Diachi working in the turbine building and you dropped it in a "puddle " and you would be more than happy to show it to them.

Careful on the water one. I seem to remember a water damage clause that said they couldn't be exposed to water prior to replacement.

just leave it in yer pockets and let the wife gf or whom ever wash clothes..

wow you must have read the real small print on that one..

ok heres a sure way to grind yer fascinate to a screamin halt.. go to TB and download the new Rom there ,, crap it was tempting... and of course will throw a fascinate into a frenzy...lol

I am in support of the running it over with the car. My stepdad used to routinely leave things on the hood of his car before taking off, and one day it was his cell phone. It's certainly quite a plausible excuse, and would explain why the phone suffered multiple traumas instead of just the one :P

I may do some internal damage (flash a bad rom) as icing, but I wanted to say water IS covered. I asked specifically when I got the insurance because my daughter has a bad habit of getting her phones wet. No real damage except for the batteries, but I didnt want to have to pay for them if I didnt have to.
