Just to be clear...there are no forum rules being violated here.
A good parallel for this would be free wireless tethering. We talk about that all day long. This is just another way of getting over on the carrier. They have rules for how many claims you can make for a reason. They know people aren't always honest when they file them.
The thing with me is that I am not trying to really get over on them. I have a legit claim by their rules, they just don't think it is damaged "enough" to warrant a replacement.
When I got the insurance through best buy, they said I could return it for anything up until the warranty runs out. I had a legit accident with the phone, it is scratched and dinged all to hell and I just want the replacement as they stated I could have. The first 2 questions from the CS reps and managers I talked to were is the screen damaged (not a nick on it) and does it power on (which it does).
After that they turned a deaf ear. I do not agree with trying to get over on them, all I want is for them to live up to what they said. If they did that, all they would have to replace is the casings and they would have a quick refurb. The guts seem fine and the screen is gold. They would save a ton of dough right there
My choices now are live with a terribly ugly phone, or do this one more harm. I am going the more harm route.
I like the oil idea.
Right now I think I might see how tough the glass really is with a few m-100's then boil it in oil. the only thing I am not fond of with the oil is the fire hazard it could propose, but I am guessing it just might melt after a few seconds in the oil. I also have to wonder how I am gonna scrape it off of the pan to send back....
