Long story short I went to best buy to look for some headphones and got side tracked looking at phones as you do. An employee walked up to me and we started talking about phones and he told me they were putting up the s8 units as we speak so giddy old me was the first one able to use the s8 out of the box and even peel off the plastic. I was able to use it for about an hour so feel free to ask any questions

My first impressions are it is big lol. But I was able to adjust to the on screen buttons very quickly, the phone itself is quite hard to hold, and I am 6'3 so I have big hands. The iris scanner works pretty well but you do have to hold it right in front of your face, the fingerprint scanner is near impossible for me to reach unless I use two hands, and I always found myself hitting the camera. The edge display is barely noticible, and I had both the s6 edge and the s7 edge which took some getting used to hold. All in all it is a very nice phone, but it does have some design pretty glaring design flaws.

Cool!!! I wonder if all BestBuys have them already... Tempted to go check one out...

Was the 18.5 to 9 aspect ratio on the Infinity Display a noticeable difference from the usual 16 to 9?

Which do you prefer S8 or S8 plus, assuming you got to play around with both...

And lastly, how was performance in terms of any noticeable lag or not?

The infinty display was in one word, breathtaking. I was able to play a few test games like cut the rope and asphalt 8 and the screen was gorgeous. It also is not that different from 16:9, at first use I could barely tell the difference.

Using both I would go for the plus just because I like bigger phones and batteries, but the s8 feels alot more natural in the hand compared to the plus.

And for performance it was right out of the box so I wasn't able see how it lasts, but it is blazing fast. Samsungs new software feels so light compared to that of the s7. I did a speed test on my s7 and the s8 to open cut the rope and the s8 plus opened it atleast 3 seconds faster so there is that.

Sounds good! One other thing I was wondering... I was hoping for a truly bezelless design (at least on three sides) but there seems to be some bezel on the top and bottom. In person though, how close would you say this is to truly bezelless? I mean does it feel like you're just holding a screen or is that top and bottom frame noticeable?

I also got to play with both phones earlier today at my Best Buy. I really enjoyed how it looked and felt. The S8 was about the same size as my S7E. Both were very light in weight. The demo was on so couldn't really test anything out much. Even the S+ felt good in my hands, I could get my entire hand around it. To me it was just a bit slimmer than my 7Edge. My wife even liked it a bit. But since I just got my phone last month I have to wait another 5 months before I can upgrade again. The midnight black is really nice in person. My choice is black and then the Orchid Grey.

The bezel is barely notcible, you can barely feel it when you are holding the phone. It just felt like I was holding a screen, and in media you can barely notice the bezels at all, so no need to worry about that.

Sounds awesome!!! :)

Sorry if this was covered on another thread, but was there any carrier or Samsung branding on the front of the phone?

Edit: Found another thread on the subject. Looks like there's no branding on the front.

Be nice to check the S8 or + with Gear VR to see if still has the screen door due to the Pentile display.

I got to play with both at the sprint store. I got there just as they were in unboxing it, so played around with both without any cords attached to it.

Coming from Note 5 the s8+ was more natural but that s8 would be better for people coming from small phones. The s8 felt almost the same as iPhone 6 in the hand. Very comfy.

I got the s8 plus. I have the s7 edge and I find it a bit too small to hold even with my cases on it. I prefer the Note 5 and V20 size as it is easier to type on them. The edge still a bit too small. Yes the screen is bigger on the s8 but without the bezels it's too small for my taste.

Got to play around with an 8 and 8+ at Best Buy this afternoon also. Note 5 user also and the 8+ was felt easier to hold. Wasn't sure if I'd like the new aspect ratio but seeing it in person put those fears to rest. Very impressed overall and really liked the silver and grey.

Cool, thanks! I will probably go check it out at BestBuy tomorrow. My local BestBuy has a dedicated Samsung area with Samsung reps and displays of a lot of their mobile gear so ill bet they have it on display... Did you get a chance to see one in person yet?
