I just keep coming back.

Ultra high quality build, no plastic.

Pure android, ZERO bloatware

screen to overall size ratio is what, like 97%?

Exceptional battery life.

128 GB

Umm, I've posted a lot of 1st try photos with it online, received no criticism of image quality.

I've got a couple things in mind I wish it had, but for $449, I'll keep my mouth shut, it's a fantastic value.

No arguments except the ratio is more like 83%.
But it is the best phone I've owned.

Amazon has them for $399 right now. Is it worth having as a secondary/weekend phone? I have an iphone X which is perfect for my business, but I love Android and want another phone so I can have a foot in both.

I just picked one up and it's a fantastic device. I actually ditched my X after a week of use. It was beautiful but I didn't care for the new UI gestures and the cost was killing me, I just couldn't swallow the fact that it was still just an iPhone with a new design. This is personal experience not a negative of the phone. I have a S9+ and this might even send that down the road. Will see. As of now it's smooth, camera is acceptable with more good pictures than not and the hardware is very nice.

I just got one as well to compliment my S9+ (and iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 XL, and Note 8). Although the native camera app takes acceptable pics, the GCAM mod on this phone is worth the download. The pics are just as good as on the Pixel. I'm very impressed.

I need to figure this out.

Here you go:

Make sure that you allow unknown sources to be installed first. Then download the APK and profit. I would download the first APK on that list. That's the one I'm using and it works great.
Android will ask if you run an installer and to allow just once. Oreo now has an option with specific apps as special services to Install from Unknown Sources.

First showed up during 8.0 beta.

How do you install the blackberry keyboard, without installing all the other blackberry stuff?

The photos looked like some weird filtured art exhibit after taking them. I get solid pics with the stock app but the down side is it likes to get stuck after a few HDR photos are taken. I'll have to keep digging for an APK that seems to work. Is this going to be a perpetual dog chasing it's take scenario keeping the gcam app running?

This being $399.99 at Amazon is INCREDIBLY tempting right now.

My main issue isn’t the camera, it’s the spotty service issues I’ve read about. Those scare me more than anything.

The thing about Amazon is you have 30 days to return it if you don't damage it. On that premiss I bought one a few days ago. Coming from a Pixel XL I am finding I like the Ph-1. Bigger screen with less mass. I tried the Google camera app and have went back to stock. It's a fine line but IMHO the pixel cam is slightly better. I haven't done low light tests yet.
Proformance wise the Ph-1 wins hands down. I think I am keeping the Essential and selling the 2016 Pixel XL 128 gb and it may end up costing me a few dollars to upgrade. If your on the fence, step off and give it a try. It's a fine device.

Camera is very important for me. Coming from iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone X. Plus having 4 kids (15, 5, 16 months x2). That's been a holdout for me. Plus the issues I've read with service for some. Otherwise it looks awesome.

I have a toddler and 5 year old. I've owned the Note 8, Pixel 2 XL, iPhone X, Samsung S9+ and this phone does on par photos in good light. I added the gcam apk which took literally 3 minutes and now it's even better. I'm actually selling my S9+ on swappa this weekend and saving myself some money.

This could be a good gateway drug for me to move back to Android, something I've been wanting to do for awhile.

That's the biggest issue I'm finding is cell service o. TMobile is just awful.

I could be wrong so don't quote me but coming from a KEYone, you may have to install the Hub+ or Hub suite or whatever they are calling it now. I tried to install some BB apps on my Moto e4 and once opened, it popped up and said that the Hub suite needed to be installed for this app to work.

The KB may be different.
