Yea, I would think you would have to have insurance before you break your phone, thats the idea of insurance...

I can't imagine doing anything other than sending it back to Samsung for repair given the uniqueness of this screen. I wouldn't trust anyone else to do the repair properly.
You can always try to plea with them or concoct some tale of woe to see if you can get a discount on the price.

I bought insurance on the Edge. Something I quit doing on my other phones some years back because the deductibles were insane. I figure it is going to be a long time before anyone other then Samsung can fix an Edge screen right. With the insurance, I figured I would let Verizon deal with getting it right and I would just take my $150 beating for dropping it.

Its $200 - $250 to repair screen which is kind of steep but expected with the new technology it has
