I just updated my android s4 and now my back key and menu key don't work

Welcome to Android Central! Which carrier, and which system update did you get? I've seen this mentioned in the past on these forums.

Try wiping the cache partition: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744. If that doesn't help, try Safe Mode (steps in that same link).
