I lent handset to a friend, can I do a factory reset from another device that I use

Can I perform a factory reset from another device that I have as a backup, I've lent my original device to a friend but need to delete all data immediately as I haven't been able to get phone bk yet

You can use Android Device Manager (http://google.com/android/devicemanager) to lock the device with an additional PIN of your choosing. That would encourage the "borrower" to return the device, if nothing else, as you can display a message on the device with that lock feature.
