Please help! I have been on the phone with Verizon and Samsung but no one seems to be able to help.
Two days ago my husband left his phone on a job site. He wasn't able to get back to it till today. So, thinking I was doing the wise thing, I used my computer and Google to LOCK his phone. I had to create a password for him to be able to unlock it. It's not working! He's tried multiple times and now if he tries again, the phone will be erased.

I've been trying to find an answer for 2 hours. There are no directions on how to unlock it once it's been locked in this fashion. He doesn't have his phone set up with any kind of security lock screen, I'm just trying to unlock it with the password I used to lock it when he didn't have it for two days.

Verizon said Samsung was the only one that could unlock it and Samsung says they can't. On the same Google Android Device Manager site that allowed me to lock it, there is NO option to UNlock it...only erase it :o He can receive calls but can't make them except to MY cell number. I had to enter a phone number during the process of locking the phone so I entered mine. All of the Google hits lead to either locking the phone (it's already locked), reach out to carrier (I did), ring the phone (no need) or consider erasing the phone :o
Thanks!

It's definitely not a Verizon or Samsung issue.
I'm not sure what can be done by it would definitely be Google since it sounds like that's who you went through to lock it.

I've already been to this site but decided it didn't have the answer I needed. I'll re-read more carefully. Thanks
It looks like the key is to be able to enter a temporary password on the device and then go to the account but I don't know if you still have that prompt on the phone

Can you remotely unlock a Samsung on Verizon? Or they took that out? Findmysansung

I followed the steps but will need to wait till he gets home with his phone to continue (step 6)

Already tried this as well. This is what I get... Registration for this phone is still pending. He's had it for two years!

SOMEONE JUST SHOOT ME! I've somehow managed to lock myself out of my own phone! WTH??? I'm going to go hide under the covers. When I come out, maybe this will all be over and everything back to normal, right?

I'm sure everyone is having a good laugh. This time I saw (somewhere) that when I locked my phone, it says "Locked by Find My Device". Does this help me in any way?

I think because it's a Verizon phone, that feature might not work, probably have to factory reset through recovery.

You do realize that's the last thing I wanted to hear, right? It's just crazy that you can LOCK the phone but there is no way (that I can find) to UNlock the phone. To quote my dad, "Life hard". Why even offer a lock feature if you have to do a FR to get it back?
So you accidentally leave your phone at work and it will be two days before you can get to it. Your options are A) let anyone find it and have access to all your information or B) lock it but then have to do a FR to get it up and working again? Does that make sense to anyone?

I agree with you, but Verizon took helpful features out

Verizon doesn't interfere with Google's find your phone functionality.

I just locked and unlocked my phone twice, I've also been on Verizon since Google implemented find your device and worked for them at the time so I've used it on numerous phones.

So your husbands phone had absolutely no security set up and was just swipe to unlock? No biometrics, pattern, or passcode of any kind?

If that's the case it would unlock via the password you entered when you remotely locked it. Since it won't take the password my best guess would be you have entered the password incorrectly. Considering Google doesn't require you to input the password in twice to verify accuracy it's possible you made a typo while entering it.

No not Google, I'm referring to Samsung find my phone

It's my understanding this thread is about Googles find my device, which Verizon doesn't interfere with and Samsung shouldn't be able to over ride.

For curiosity's sake I just checked Find my Mobile on my Samsung account and my Note 8/9 both show as registration for this device is still pending so it's likely Verizon has Samsungs variant blocked but it should be irrelevant in this case anyway.

Yeah OP used Google find my phone to lock it down but I was trying give alternative by using Samsung remotely log in and unlock. Since Verizon interferes with this again, guess not a option so only thing to do at this point factory reset through recovery.
