I love my battery!

Man! tell me about it! my old phone (an iphone 3gs) the way i use it text mail web browsing it lastbetween 4 to 5 hours and the atrix with a full charge last between 12 and 14 hours!! how cool is that! gotta love my atrix!

I get like 15 hours of heavy use(including about an hour phone call, 150 texts, a couple hours of gaming, and of course a lot of internet time). I love this thing!

Woah guys thanks. As a person coming from blackberry i am used to go full day on a single charge. I mean i know its all different here so i wasnt sure if i am getting normal results. What i am really happy about is that when idle, phone almost doesnt lose its charge for hours. I tried blackberry torch and it was the worst phone ever, besides horrible build quality it would lose charge by 10% every hour i had two of them and eventually sent them both back. Thank God i did that, i absolutely love atrix. But the best battery life was on my old blackberry bold 9700 which is up for an auction on ebay right now. Thanks guys!

So i just came back home from the city and i have 40% left. I unplugged the phone at around 2:30 pm today. Was listening music on the train for about 15 minutes reading news from google reader and later on used gps with gmaps for a few mins made phone calls for about 18 minutes altogether plus my wife was playing mahjong on the train, and some light internet surfing. It is 11:46 now and phone is down to 40 % well..... i mean i,ll definetely need that spare battery that i've ordered. But overall i suppose it's not that bad...

+ 1 :)

Glad you all are having great battery life. I'll wake up to find my atrix dead every morning. I did have it on performance and since changing it, it hasn't died by morning, but I'm not using it for anything but apps, so not sure why it would drain so much, even w/ performance selected.

WOW!! That's GREAT about the battery life on the Atrix!! Makes me wanna dump the G2 for the Atrix. The G2 is a GREAT phone but battery life tends to die quicker than the Atrix from what I hear.

Do you use your phone a lot at night? If not, maybe change it to Nighttime Saver mode.

Guys, something really strange just happend now. I just recieved my spare battery so i wanted to see whats the charge on it, so i temporrly put it in my phone checked the charge and put back the originaly battery that i initially got with the phone from att, since i used my phone a bit today the remaining charge on it was 80%, but now it shows 100! I think i read about this things on some other forum and people were suggesting that it might be the wrong charge calculation by the OS. So i rebooted my phone and it still shows 100% really strange.... i just hope its not going to suddenly discharge completely in one hour or so... did anyone had this happen?

Ok, I just read through this post and have some questions. I still have old habits with this Device (Atrix) and I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of the Battery Life. I'm not rooted and I don't plan on it yet but I want to maximize my battery. I'm used to always keeping my device charged because I stream radio and have my stereo bluetooth running and I find myself doing this with my Atrix. I want to way say I get "12-20 hours of charge and have 40% left" but I just don't see it. So should I let the battery drain and then charge it or charge it whenever I can?

Lithium batteries have no memory affect. The only things that will affect the capacity are (1) overcharging, (2) over-draining, (3)over amping, and (4)extreme temperature exposure.... and of course (5)cycles.

You have no control over 1-3 because the built-in electronics are supposed to regulate this. You can, of course, remove the battery and charge it with a proper lithium charger (I have several for my hobby) to make sure it is getting its full charge. (4) If you accidentally leave your phone in the sun in a hot car you will probably ruin the battery and (5) over time after 100's & 100's of cycles, capacity will decrease.

Ok so far its doing about par with my BB 8900 however today I came home and it showed 1 day and 1 hour at 40%. I had a couple of calls and checked it again and now its saying like 3 hrs since unplugged. WTF? Either way that means I got over 27hrs of light usage out of it and still 40% left. Sorry I cant give all the stats as for some reason it thought I had plugged it in or something. Still not bad as I recall I had a few MMS and SMS text msgs and several short phone calls so all is good . Just wonder why it restarted the batter thing on me.

Battery life has been great for me.

If you want to improve your battery life, get rid of your widgets and turn down the frequency that programs update. I can easily get a full day.

I am at 12h31m since unplugged and I have 51% remaining. I don't think the battery life could get any better.

Battery management on atrix compared to N1 is a little wonky. I haven't begun fiddling with management profiles because its confusing, but battery life is amazing in mine.

Coming from the Nexus One, the battery was pretty poor. I had to have a charger at work just so I had enough juice to make it through the day. If I went to sleep without putting it on the charger, I would sometimes wake to find a dead phone. With the Atrix, I can go a night without charging and it only drains 10% at night. I don't have to keep it on the charger at work. I feel less "tethered" to the power socket.

That said, the incredible battery life is dampened a bit by MotoBlur. Using Titanium backup to freeze certain MotoBlur services, my battery will last all weekend on single charge. I didn't mind MotoBlur before buying the phone, but now I hate it.

Luckily Da_G over at xda-developers has claimed that he was able to write to NAND post-boot, potentially paving the way to completely sidestep the bootloader. We may actually be able to flash a Blur-free ROM in the near future. :)

My problem with the battery life is that i run multiple apps that are always on, so my battery drains in less then a day.
I am thinking android doesn't have a push service. Am I right? I mean this basically was a make or break feature on the iPhone. I would be very surprised android if doesn't have it by now.

It does have push notifications. Depends on applications using it or not. e.g. Meebo on Android doesn't use it and as a result is always syncing to figure out new messages and is a big battery drain.

Also apps loaded into memory don't drain the battery, android keeps apps loaded into memory for quick access to previous state when you come back to the application.

I haven't seen any notion if push, just timed sync

Are you sure? Cause I've tested it and it pushes the email to my phone just as soon as it is sent. Heck, it even appears faster than on my computer right next to it.

It does have a timed sync in addition to push.

The Push API was just released to the public in 2.2. GMail and Google apps have it as well as some third-party apps, but still some are stuck using the old polling functionality when syncing. MotoBlur, for instance uses polling. My Facebook app would notify me minutes before MotoBlur did.
