Ok so. I made a loophole at Verizon. Expect the spacial rift to open soon.

Ok story begins when I went into verizon to add a third line to my family plan to get the hell away from the Droid Eris because all they wanted to do was send me refurbed ones.

I got the Fascinate at the two year contract price of $299.00 and sold the Eris back to them for $132. I mailed in the rebate which I will be getting back this week ($100.00)

Well Yesterday my Fascinate quit working and I took it back and got the Droid X with the refund. I mailed havent mailed off my rebate for that yet ($100.00). They extended my contract on the existing line two years which they should not have done and Verizon support recognized that. So they changed my dates to fix it. By doing so it made their systems show my primary line (the one that had the Eris on it) as eligible for new every two. So I call them back and ask them, "WTF?"

They said You were eligible the whole time for the new every two and why did I add a new line to get into a new phone instead of just upgrading. I told them the MyVerizon and in store rep said I had 10 months to go still....

The Support rep said nope your eligible now. Its a bad glitch in our systems and other people were experiencing it. She told me to take my Droid X in and talk to the manager. To tell them that this mistake happened and they will take the third line I added off the account, let me keep the Droid X on my primary line, give me $50 for the new every two as a credit back to my debit card.

So to tally this up....

Bought Fascinate - $299.99
Fascinate Rebate +100.00
Droid X rebate +100.00
Eris sold +132.00
NE2 Credit to Debit +50.00

Total net earnings = $82.01

I take this to mean that Verizon paid me $82.01 to get a new phone....

Unless you've got your money back for the fascinate rebate, I wouldn't celebrate yet. They may fine back for that $100.

They already did. And they will honor the Droids rebate too. I thought that was wierd so I asked about that and they said they will honor both. SO I stopped questioning at that point....

I don't care whether you technically shouldn't have or should have gotten the rebate. After reading your story, you earned every cent of that 82.01 :)

One of our mods, Brett, is going through the same thing with them sending him crappy refurbs of the Droid. In the last week they've sent him 3 Droids with loose keyboards. He's hoping they will offer him a Droid 2 or Incredible instead.

verizon is pretty loose with their rebates, you should get them all no problem.

i know people at stores who've sent rebates for doa phones and gotten them... :p

What they usually do is just bill you for that first $100 rebate that you sent in. So I would expect to see a $100 charge on your bill for that.

No. You're not reading what im saying lol. I asked them about the rebates. They said I WILL get both rebates as normal. The arent going to bill me later or any **** like that.

I wouldn't expect much. Verizon replaced my Omnia no less than 9 times, and after talking with everyone I could in stores and verizon tech support and the like they told me that while they used to exchange phones (omnia to omnia 2,etc) for people that had to replace the same phone more than 4 times, they were no longer allowed to do this.
However that might have just been me, perhaps replacing the omnia 9 times was cheaper than just giving me a different phone.

I was told this too. I asked the manager why and he said it was because of the BB Storm fiasco. So you can thank RIM for the new policy.
