Try going to settings> application manager> all> Google play store> force stop> uninstall updates> clear data> reboot your device

It would still help to get more details about how Google Play isn't working. Does it give you an error message saying "Google Play has stopped working"? Does it just freeze up? Are you sure you're logged in with your Google account? Have you disabled any system apps like Download Manager (which is necessary for Google Play to install apps)?
