Ok I installed CM 6.1 last night, and everything is great, except now my computer won't recognize my phone as usb storage device. As in I can't transfer files back and forth when I plug in the USB.

Well I found this solution to fix my SD card
[ How-To ] Fix SD card not being detected & USB port not working - xda-developers

Well I don't know a damn thing about ADB, so I spent all night and most of this morning trying to install it and learn it.

Well I can type in adb devices and I get my device but when I try to put in the
SD Card Fix

Press & hold vol down and power on the phone
Select fastboot by pressing the power button

ADB commands

fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot reboot

That should fix your SD card not being detected.

It says fastboot: not found.

I have no idea where to go from here.

I read through your post, but I didn't see you mention that you put your phone into fastboot (the instructions say to do that, but you didn't mention that you did that part). Did you happen to do that?

Yeah, what npark said.

power off your phone, connect it to your pc, press the volume down and power button, when the phone boots up select fastboot usb off the menu and then proceed.

Well I'm an idiot.

Ok when I do that, it goes into HBOOT right off the bat with a progress bar in the upper right hand corner and the Droids on the skateboard. It then says do you want to start update. I say no. It then says do you want to reboot the device. I say no.
It then gives me these options
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
HBOOT USB

I don't get a FASTBOOT USB. Unless you just mean FASTBOOT

Ok now it says
'fastboot' is not a recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Boot into fastboot directly with volume up instead of down, plug in your phone and it will say fastboot USB.

Navigate to your androidSDK/tools directory, wherever that may be depending on where you put it. I put it in C:

Now type fastboot devices

It should show you some numbers, its the serial of your phone I believe. From there your good to go.

Oh and make sure HTC sync is installed correctly.

None of that will work if usb isn't being recognized...

He needs to fix that first

Ok I got it all the adb and fastboot working now. I was in platform-tools not tools, that's why fastboot wasn't working.

Well now I can do fastboot devices and get my device, but when I put in the command.

fastboot oem enablexdm 0

I get

... INFO[ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.007s]
finished. total time: 0.007s

I be so confused on where to go from here.

Thanks so much for your help so far guys.

Well I was able to go into recovery and and mount USB mass storage, and I could see everything on my PC. Don't know if that bit of info matters.

So normally in CM when you plug in your USB cable in, does a pop up ask you what you want to do like, mount, charge...etc, like in Sense?

Because if so, I'm getting non of that.

No, you have to pull down the bar and press usb connected, then hit the button to turn the mount on.

This happened to me once, it said i have corrupted data or some non-sense when it tried to mount the SD card. So i copied the needed stuff off the SD, formatted the SD, put stuff back on and reflashed CM6. Worked :p

And btw, if you get soft brick USB/SD, fastboot will still work i believe
