I need help rooting my phone, it's an LG Optimus S LS670

I downloaded the ZVD and put it on my SD card, but when I went to reboot my phone and recover it and what not, it didn't show it and it stayed as ZVJ:/
So you weren't able to boot into recovery?

How did you reboot to recovery (ie see a text-based menu with an option to apply:update.zip)?

Did you use the Home+VolDn+Power key combination?

What are you saying here? You are not being specific and assuming that we know what you did. What is "the ZVD?" The stock ZVD update.zip? A custom ROM built for ZVD? A tool that roots ZVD?

Putting any file on your SD card just puts a file on your SD card. I wouldn't expect anything at all to happen.

I got to the recovery screen, and chose applu sdcard:update.zip part, then I wiped the data/factory reset thing :/

It said that there was nothing on it to update, and then said error.

Did you put the zvd update.zip on the root of the sd card? Meaning, don't put it in any of the folders that are on your card.

If so, make sure it is just named 'update.zip' and not something weird like 'update.zip.zip' (that happened to me once...annoying)

Indeed. Windows has a bad habit of hiding known file extensions to make management seamless to the user but the problem with that is that sometimes things get double-extension'd like what Zhara said in the quote. So if your computer has the default folder settings and you don't normally see files with the extensions .exe, .doc, etc. remove the extension from your filename and it should still say "Compressed Folder". If it does, that's probably all that was wrong. :D

The version 2.3.3 and I've tried every rooting option I have, I don't know if it's my computer, or I'm just retarted...will someone PLEASE help me:/
I had the same problem I will asume you took the update a bit ago u have to backdate yer phone.i went thru wewks of reading abd trying to do this.u have to download a file update.zip.i dont have a link but just search and u will find it then drop it onto yer sd card from yer phone.then unhook yer phone power off then hold home button, vol.down, and power all at same time then u will see a recover screen.scroll with vol button to update.zip or something like that and it will restore yer phone back to before update and it will delete yer contacts and anything that iz not backed up so backup yer apps to an sd card with a file app.and I beleve u will be asked during the recovery erase all ? Yes.try searching .backdate optimus s ls670 .once you backdate the gingerbreak will root it in a second lol and yer good.
