I need my Nexus 7 to go back to how it was.

My friend thought that he could 'upgrade' my Nexus 7 and he wiped the whole tablet clean. When he tried to place the 'upgraded' thing in, it wasn't compatible with Nexus 7, therefore he placed in his own kernal inside. The thing is, it was much worse and now I want my Nexus 7 to go back to how it was.

Well, your best bet would be to reload one of the factory images that Google has made available for your tablet. The images themselves can be found HERE... your device is either the 'nakasi' (if it is just wifi) or 'nakasig' if you have the mobile data version.

The only two versions you want to concern yourself with are version 4.4.4 or 5.1.1..... some people have had issues with the 5.1.1 versions, so the 4.4.4 is anothe option. I would suggest that you go back to your friend and give them these links and have them load those. Depending on how comfortable you are with loading images, you could try yourself or you can download a toolkit like Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit...

As for how to do it? Just do a Google search for "Load factory image Nexus 7 2012".... look on Youtube and there should be a bunch of videos stepping you through the process. It might sounds like a daunting task but if you can follow directions, it is actually very straightforward, and once you have it set up to load once (especially with the Wugfresh NRT), it is really easy to do it again in the future.
