I know this is off topic but I also know there are a TON of genius' on here. My boyfriend is building his own computer (gaming) with the parts I bought him for Xmas from new egg, and we just put it together. But when we turn it on the fans only spin for a second then they stop. Any suggestions?

No I didn't lol I tried to load one and scared myself hah so I decided to wait a little haha

So I'm a newb how would I check the psi is set to that.... We haven't fully powered it on yet or even connected the monitor. When we powered it on the first couple times we were worried about the fans so we turned it back off. Any advice about connecting the fans. Does it matter where you connect the fans to motherboard vs power supply?

There is a rocker switch or something of the likes of one on the unit somwhere. the fan should connect to the harness coming from the PSU..Mind you i dont know alot, i did basic computer repair when i was in highschool years ago. but you should be able to hook up the PSU to the switch and throw the fan on just to make sure you dont have a crapped out fan or PSU.

Im no expert, im just bouncing ideas out for you. since no one else is around at this hour

Psht yeah lol jk thanks guys for all the help we will try it out tonight and if not try n swap them out!

Kyla

Make sure your ram sticks are firmly seated with the clips snug against the little notches in the ram pcb. Also make sure all connections are solid..ie the main and secondary power cable...the big 24 pin and smaller 8 or 6 pin ones. And the little ones from the case to the MB ie the power, reset, hdd light etc, make sure secure and routed correctly. Make sure vid card is seated good with clip on back end solid.

You can take your PS to most comp shops and they have PS testers...A good way to know for sure PS is good or bad. Good luck

Which fans PSU fans? CPU fan? Case fans? GPU fans?
Well truthfully they dont really need to be on until it comes up to temp. Id give it a min then check for power at either of the two pins supplying power. Should be a DC circuit so black lead to the case should do also WEAR A WRIST GROUNDING LEAD !!!

Sorry I'm a bit late to all of this. Would've never expected a PC repair thread on an Android forum. Lol, but make sure to check that the 12V 4 pin connector that goes from the PSU straight to the motherboard is firmly in, AND in correctly. I actually built a PC a couple of years back where I'd mistakenly forced this connector in the wrong way, despite the fact that it's a keyed connector.

Anyways, so how's it going? Did you get it working yet?

EDIT: Yeah, what Davey11 said. I read almost the entire thread and somehow skipped that one?

Check your part numbers again. If what you listed is correct, you have a LGA 1366 motherboard and a LGA 1156 CPU. They will not work together.
