Unless he was really lucky and made 3 different orders I doubt he ordered 12. There was a 5 phone limit per order.

True indeed.

I can appreciate Apple in times like this. My wife wanted a 4s and I just made an appointment and marched right in and picked up the phone with no hassle at all.
I prefer for them to save us the money and retail themselves so in the long run its worth it for them to learn and improve at the retail side.

Lol, disappointing? Like trying for hours to buy 2 (one for me, one for the wife) and failing?

Seriously sucks man. We've been looking forward to this for months. I was on at 8:40am PST. Still couldn't get a single one.

I hope supply and demand kicks the resellers in the teeth when Google restocks.
