I really wanted to like the 6P, but it's getting shipped back this week.

Coming from AT&T Branded Note 3 to the 6P. I really have been trying to like this phone over the last week, but there are a few things that are deal breakers with me. The first is (and biggest issue) is with the fact when I rest the phone on my shoulder or move it more than an inch from my mouth, people tell me I sound like I am 10 feet away. The second thing is that I cannot get my corporate exchange email to integrate to the phone without using Gmail. Even using Outlook, it does not integrate the calendar or contact into the native app.

This thing is super fast, and sounds great through the speakers. I even liked the camera. Did I mention how fast it was?

Not that this will necessarily stop you, I use an Exchange server and have full integration using the app Nine. You have to buy it but it's an outstanding app for accessing an Exchange server.

I am on AT&T too and there's no way I am going back to a carrier phone. They are ridiculously slow getting updates to the phone, even important security updates. I feel free now!

I don't mind buying an app. I'll give that a shot. Still need to figure out the microphone issue. I've covered the rear mic and tried several things, but holding the phone close to my mouth or cupping my hand under the bottom of the phone is the only solution that I can come up with.

I would much rather have a phone without all the bloatware.

Make sure you give it a full run through right after you buy it. Exchange servers can vary a bit based on how the administrator implements security, etc. If it doesn't work, you want to make sure you can return Nine. I can't remember exactly but I think it is on the "expensive" side for an app.

I have exchange (2007, if I remember correctly ) in my office and had no problem setting it up with the gmail app. Works great. I reluctantly decided to use the gmail app for both work and personal email, glad I did. No real need for a separate email client.

I use TouchDown and have for years.
You have to pay though.

I used to have problems with gmail so I now use Blue Mail and it works a treat with my personal and work exchange.

A few people are having the "muddied" audio problem with the microphone, myself included. There is a thread about it on these forums...

Search the forums for "Nexus 6P Microphone Problem"

I'd post a link but I don't have enough posts to do that yet.

It looks like it's a small batch of phones that are affected (so far). The only solution is to RMA the phone back to Google... but that is not a guarantee that it will fix the problem. :/

I can second Nine as an Exchange client. Very very good. Much more modern than Touchdown and features are added constantly. Developer is very responsive.

I also use Nine for my corporate email. Works great, very intuitive. I haven't had a microphone issue on mine so perhaps if you can get a replacement that would fix the problem. The only problem I've had is intermittent bluetooth connection issue with one of my cars. Love the phone otherwise! Good luck!

I think he is trying to set up an exchange account outside of gmail for some reason.

I don't like the Gmail app. I downloaded Nine, its free for a few days, and I'll give it a try. I called Project Fi this morning and they are sending out a new phone to me, so I'll give it another shot before I return it. I was worried I would go over the 14 days with getting a different phone shipped out.

I use TouchDown as well. One of the many reasons I like it is that it keeps my work and personal data separate. A wipe instruction from the work e-mail servers will just wipe out TouchDown on my device, not the entire device.

I also would recommend using Nine, it was well worth the $9.99. Best exchange email app I've used yet.

So far I am really liking this app. I will test it out a few more days before I purchase it. But so far so good.

I would NEVER EVER use Nine. Tried it on 2 different phones, a One Plus One and a Note 5. It would not play nicely with my exchange which is hosted by GoDaddy and it required a manual refresh in order to receive new messages. The developer had the balls to ask for my email password so he could log in. That tells you right there, you are a victim waiting to happen with Nine. I'm an attorney, can you imagine me giving out my work email password to an unknown developer? Don't say you havent been warned.

That's an interesting experience. I'm not sure how I feel about a dev asking for your password. I get that he would likely want to see what exactly was going on with the app so he could fix it, and he more than likely meant nothing but good intentions, but still. that's really bad practice.

I use nine because it''s one of the few apps that doesnt store any of your data on their servers, it's all local. However I've never needed dev interaction because My exchange server is hosted locally. I would imagine yours was a special case because of how yours is hosted.

Touchdown is $20 but they support the app.
I've had Touchdown since I had a DroidX.
It is the only client I use for Exchange.
It's sandboxed so that a corporate Exchange policy does not take over the whole phone.

Well, off the 6P goes back to the big G. If they ever hammer out the issues, I'll come back, but for now I've moved to the LG V10.
