I RETURNED my 6P ... will you too?

The purpose of me starting this thread is no different than why you made posts in this thread (and in other threads)...or no different than why you even joined this community to begin with...that purpose is to have dialogue and exchange input/thoughts/experiences.

It really isn't complicated.

Perhaps others can look at you sharing a post stating that you returned one 6P for another one...as validation of your love for a 6P. I started a thread and you made a post in it...any real difference?

Fact is this thing has quality control issues and sharing that fact opens up dialogue. What are you? The validation thought police? Lol

Well I'll be getting my 6P tomorrow... the reviewers say the screen is really good so I'm pretty sure I'm going to like it. If I don't I'll give it another chance and get a replacement in case it's defective, since so many other people seem to like it.

Got my 6P today (graphite 32 GB). I'm sorry to say it will be going back. When displaying grey or white, the top half of the screen has a very obvious yellow hue, bottom half has a very obvious pink hue. It's clear as day, not something you need to look at just the right angle to see. Being someone who looks at a calibrated monitor all day, incorrect whites stick out to me like a sore thumb. This is the same issue to varying degrees I have seen on half a dozen Note's and Galaxy S6's as well. It's the OLED lottery, from what I understand the screens cut near the edge of the wafer are worse than the ones in the center - not sure if there is truth to that or not. Hopefully my next one is better.

Other than that, this phone is plain awesome. Fast doesn't even describe this phone, it is instantaneous. I just want one with a proper screen!!

Do you guys have pics of this? Something is definitely weird about this screen to my eyes (maybe color oversaturation, coming from a OPO - more "vibrant" as well but I don't think the white's are yellow - definitely get the "pinkish" tone when I turn the screen brightness all the way down though

Do a quick google images search for "galaxy s6 pink hue", and pretty much all the first images show the issue exactly. A portion of the screen is usually fairly yellow, and the other portion fairly pink. This really chaps my *** because the phone is flippin' phenomenal other than the screen hue. Hopefully my replacement is good and I can get on with it.

Edit: Looks exactly like this:

As the title says. I'd followed news of this Nexus launch since March, and had my heart set on my first stock Android device. I know that the ruckus going on now is par for the course, with every new phone that launches. I can't deny having niggling doubts, however. I ordered the 6P on 10/27 from Huawei and have an estimated delivery date of late November. That being the case, I wonder which wave of phones mine is in, since I hate being an early adopter anyway. Given Huawei's RMA policy, I'll be very irritated if I have to do so for any reason, after such a long wait. Should something be wrong with this device, I may just wait til the 2016 Moto X is out with the SD 820.

For every person I've heard mention hue discrepancies it would be fair to point out that I've seen an equal number of users who had this happen report that it balanced out with use over time. I suppose there's some credit to the people who said the adhesive needed to set.

i thought there was an 80% chance i would have to return my phone once it arrived from what i read, and unless i'm a rare case mine was perfect no problems.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

You might want to cancel that order from Huawei and just order from Google directly. People who are ordering directly from Google now are getting their phones rather quickly. For instance, I ordered an Aluminum 64 GB about 10 days ago and received it three days after ordering. And I ordered a Frost 128 GB on Nov. 5 and it was delivered yesterday. Just a thought. And don't worry too much about the niggling doubts. We all have them. If it's turns out it's not for you, simply return it. It's all good. :)

We bought 2 6Ps in my house. Also have a Note 5. My screen is as white as my Note 5 but my girlfriends 6P has a slight yellowish hue. But she's gonna keep it. She had a Samsung S6 previously and had to exchange it due to the hazy off color white. Maybe it's an Amoled thing.

On a side "note", how would you rate your transition from the Note 5 to the 6P? I've had my Note 5 since launch and have really enjoyed it. I don't use the S pen every day, but often enough to still appreciate its functionality. It's the first Samsung I've owned, and I've never had a Nexus either (always had an HTC prior). I've always been curious about the pure Android experience. I've been reading and watching reviews of the 6P and this things looks beastly, both with it's hardware and specs/performance.

So I'm torn, leaving the Note 5 so soon after purchase. I know I can hold onto the Note 5 and kinda go back and forth (phone activation on Sprint is pretty quick and painless), but I feel that might diminish the experience for both by not committing 100% to either. Money is less of the issue here than the practicality of having both and leaving the Note 5 so soon. Let me know what you think. Thanks!!

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

I agree with Sangs as well. I ordered mine from Google the week you did and I already have it.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

I'll say the same as this group. Ordered from GS on a Monday and received Silver 32gig on Thursday. My build is just perfect with none of the bulges, marks, etc. Only hump I'm getting over is the size compared to my Moto X 1st gen :-\

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

I would order from Google. I got mine two weeks early. Also I would rather talk to them if I have a problem.

I've had my note 5 since launch as well and echo your experience. I've never owned a stock Android device and after reading a few glowing reviews of the 6P, I figured I'd give it a test drive. Fortunately I was able to simply move the Sim card from my note 5 into the 6P seamlessly.
I've used the 6P for a solid week now. I'm impressed with the styling, the look, the way it feels in my hand. The screen is simply beautiful. As I mentioned earlier, the whites are sharp. There's absolutely no lag at all. This thing sings as it goes to work!
At first I thought I might end up selling the Note 5. But I'm going to hang onto to it. I have 30 days to test drive this 6P. As I've learned from the stock community, early updates and lack of carrier "bloat" are two big selling points for going stock. If those items are important to you, the Nexus line is a no brainer. Those have never been important to me. And that's fine either way. Stock is more barebones. I like my phones like I like my cars, packed with necessary and uneccesssry features.
A lot of people make a big deal about updates, bloat/"uneccesssry" features and being unlocked. Not tied to a carrier. Those are all absolutely legitimate items to those that find them important. But if they are not critical to your buying decision, then you'll probably have a difficult time justifying the switch.
Regarding the Spen. Another uneccessary item. But I enjoy using it daily whether for production or to kill time. I've found great uses for it. The ability to pull it out and write a quick note on the black screen of my phone is incredibly useful.
I love this Nexus 6P. I really do. There's more of an emotional connection with the 6P whereas the draw to my Note is function and power. Sort of like you'd pick the Nexus 6P to take out on a date or to a house party and the Note 5 you'd call over to watch football or fix the roof. The 6P easily trumps my note 5 on design, feel and looks. Note 5 has a gorgeous glass rear panel. But it's an uncomfortable finger print magnet. I had to put a skin on it. This 6P feels perfect in my hand naked.
A huge plus for the 6P is Marshmallow out of the box. And is sweet! Not sure when Samsung will get it. They have 1000 Galaxy models to pore over first I guess. But Marshmallow is worth the price of admission because I can call people or ask my 6P to play music or compose a text or email without ever touching my locked phone! I use that feature so often I'm afraid I might break it! And it's flawless! From across the room I just say, "Ok Google" then say a command. My Note 5 will eventually receive Marshmallow. When I don't know. But it has me spoiled.
The front facing stereo speakers on my 6P

ever!
Boom sound on the HTC might have slightly richer sound, slightly, but nothing is louder.
You might need to slide over on that fence and make room for me! Lol
Google and Samsung have hit it out of the park with the Note 5 and 6P.
I definitely encourage you to take a look at the 6P. I would love to hear your impressions.
The above are just from my experience. Everyone's story is different. I acknowledge and respect that.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

I ordered mine from Google on the 30th. The store site said estimated shipping date was Nov 16th. It shipped the 5th, and they overnighted it (even though I didn't choose overnight shipping), so I received it on the 6th.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

Yeah, I'd just order from Google. I ordered a 128gb Graphite on Saturday. Got shipping notice yesterday and it looks like it'll be here today. All you have to do is test it out for a bit. If it doesn't work for you, return it. Or if you have some issues but otherwise like the phone, RMA it and get another. There are lots of people out there who are saying they have no issues at all with their phones. But there definitely is a vocal minority. Check out threads on the 6s Plus. Tons of people on iMore and MacRumors talking about blotchy screens and pressure points. I also have a 6s Plus that has none of the issues people are claiming in those forums. There are always issues with every mass produced technology device that some seem to get.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

Took me a month to get it from Project Fi through Google. It was a huge de-boggle by Google. Anyway got mine Friday after a month long wait, and I have to say it's a pretty good phone. The Best ever? I just don't have enough time with it to make that assessment. The lack of OIS may not allow me to hand that crown over to this phone. However it is a good phone, needs a case 100%, this aluminum scratches, and from what we are hearing its just one of those phones that can't be knocked around like a nexus 5 or moto X...needs some TLC.

I wouldn't want to deal with the manufacturer, I'd cancel and go straight though Google, they seem to be shipping out phones at a pretty fast rate right now. For returns and all that, Google is usually great, Huawei on the other hand I have no idea about and given the circumstances, I'd take my chances with Google this time around.

This is a refreshing take. I am exactly the same situation but I am going back to the Note 5. Both phones are truly beasts but for me it came down to not wanting to give up wireless charging and samsung pay. I am invested in both. I use Nova Launcher and the 4 gigs of RAM are more than enough on my Note. I have never experienced slow downs. I also use my phone for work and there have been times that S Pen has come in handy. At first I couldn't appreciate the upgrades that the camera on the 6p has made but as I started messing around with it, I really liked the pictures. I have an infant at home and I take plenty of video and love to snap photos. I prefer the Note 5 camera a bit better. It's all a preference thing. I am selling my 6p to my coworker today and sticking with my Note.

Now you are pissing me off. Do you have my link radio or base radio? Taking it in on tuesday and hoping there is a bluetooth software update to fix it.

Base radio, don't have the fancy screen and bells and whistles. I do have the upgraded Boston speaker pack though. Now it is tricky to do on mine because the radio handles phone and audio differently. For audio you have to do something different. My phone connect to "General Motors" and audio connects to "GMusicConnect"
