I RETURNED my 6P ... will you too?

I absolutely love this phone. I've never owned an android phone where I can type over 60WPM and not get some kind of keyboard lag. The screen is beautiful, and I have an S6 Edge and just don't think the warmer whites are a deal breaker.

it's also a metal phone, with a huge amount of glass, at $250 - $300 less than the Apple counterpart. It's going to be fragile. This isn't the LG V10 or the Turbo 2. I have to imagine people are being a little too careless with their devices. When I spend $500 up front for something, it's my baby. I'm going to lightly set it on a table, and not put it in my back pocket. So I can't subscribe to the physical issues are people having. There needs to be substantially more glass cracking reports than what there is right now for me to start to be concerned.

This is an A+ phone, but because it's so dang awesome you want to baby the thing and caress it. Whisper sweet nothings to it. Buy it flowers. I've had no hardware issues so far. If anything it's exceeded my expectations. When I first ordered this phone I had no idea what I was getting.

I have NEVER understood people putting phones in their back pockets... I mean you do sit on them and the force is not just a little bit at times.

Will refuse delivery. Was looking forward to the device. Really looking forward to the device, but..... iFixit gives it a terrible rating and the bend / glass issues connote a poor design build in a pretty package. I put phones in my back pocket all the time. And don't tell me not to put them there, because I will sit on the thang sometime, somewhere. Probably get a damn iPhone and load it up with Android programs. Also, the I phones hold some value + I use mini Macarooni for computing at my home office. Too bad.

This is a refreshing take. I am exactly the same situation but I am going back to the Note 5. Both phones are truly beasts but for me it came down to not wanting to give up wireless charging and samsung pay. I am invested in both. I use Nova Launcher and the 4 gigs of RAM are more than enough on my Note. I have never experienced slow downs. I also use my phone for work and there have been times that S Pen has come in handy. At first I couldn't appreciate the upgrades that the camera on the 6p has made but as I started messing around with it, I really liked the pictures. I have an infant at home and I take plenty of video and love to snap photos. I prefer the Note 5 camera a bit better. It's all a preference thing. I am selling my 6p to my coworker today and sticking with my Note.

We'll said. It's a tough choice. That's why I'm hanging on to my note 5. I'll most likely end up staying with the Note for reasons I stated and even those you shared. There's just functionality I don't want to give up. The 6P is compelling. It's a win for Android. Marshmallow update will most likely swing the balance in favor of the Note 5 for me. It's the main reason I still have my sim card in my 6P.

This phone is amazing, I have no problems with it that other people have, I dont put my phone in my back pocket and I owned every new phone out there from LG4 to Galaxy s6 edge plus. This is my my favorite phone. I just love pure android, a close second is my MOTO X PURE 2015.

I've had my note 5 since launch as well and echo your experience. I've never owned a stock Android device and after reading a few glowing reviews of the 6P, I figured I'd give it a test drive. Fortunately I was able to simply move the Sim card from my note 5 into the 6P seamlessly.
I've used the 6P for a solid week now. I'm impressed with the styling, the look, the way it feels in my hand. The screen is simply beautiful. As I mentioned earlier, the whites are sharp. There's absolutely no lag at all. This thing sings as it goes to work!
At first I thought I might end up selling the Note 5. But I'm going to hang onto to it. I have 30 days to test drive this 6P. As I've learned from the stock community, early updates and lack of carrier "bloat" are two big selling points for going stock. If those items are important to you, the Nexus line is a no brainer. Those have never been important to me. And that's fine either way. Stock is more barebones. I like my phones like I like my cars, packed with necessary and uneccesssry features.
A lot of people make a big deal about updates, bloat/"uneccesssry" features and being unlocked. Not tied to a carrier. Those are all absolutely legitimate items to those that find them important. But if they are not critical to your buying decision, then you'll probably have a difficult time justifying the switch.
Regarding the Spen. Another uneccessary item. But I enjoy using it daily whether for production or to kill time. I've found great uses for it. The ability to pull it out and write a quick note on the black screen of my phone is incredibly useful.
I love this Nexus 6P. I really do. There's more of an emotional connection with the 6P whereas the draw to my Note is function and power. Sort of like you'd pick the Nexus 6P to take out on a date or to a house party and the Note 5 you'd call over to watch football or fix the roof. The 6P easily trumps my note 5 on design, feel and looks. Note 5 has a gorgeous glass rear panel. But it's an uncomfortable finger print magnet. I had to put a skin on it. This 6P feels perfect in my hand naked.
A huge plus for the 6P is Marshmallow out of the box. And is sweet! Not sure when Samsung will get it. They have 1000 Galaxy models to pore over first I guess. But Marshmallow is worth the price of admission because I can call people or ask my 6P to play music or compose a text or email without ever touching my locked phone! I use that feature so often I'm afraid I might break it! And it's flawless! From across the room I just say, "Ok Google" then say a command. My Note 5 will eventually receive Marshmallow. When I don't know. But it has me spoiled.

You might need to slide over on that fence and make room for me! Lol
Google and Samsung have hit it out of the park with the Note 5 and 6P.
I definitely encourage you to take a look at the 6P. I would love to hear your impressions.
The above are just from my experience. Everyone's story is different. I acknowledge and respect that.

i thought there was an 80% chance i would have to return my phone once it arrived from what i read, and unless i'm a rare case mine was perfect no problems.
Yeah that's the problem with these reports. When Android Police wrote about that reddit post there were like 4 people who claimed it happened to them. Yesterday a couple more sites copied the AP article. Now people even in this very forum are making it into a mass hysteria train. Mine is coming today. If it happens to me I'll exchange it and continue to use it for the next year or so just like millions of other people have done with the "bendgate " iPhone 6

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

You might want to cancel that order from Huawei and just order from Google directly. People who are ordering directly from Google now are getting their phones rather quickly. For instance, I ordered an Aluminum 64 GB about 10 days ago and received it three days after ordering. And I ordered a Frost 128 GB on Nov. 5 and it was delivered yesterday. Just a thought. And don't worry too much about the niggling doubts. We all have them. If it's turns out it's not for you, simply return it. It's all good. :)

I hear you, but the reason I'm not sweating an order from Huawei too much is cause the TGSP's and cases I have on order haven't gotten to me yet. For the most part I'm confident the phone will be ok, but ever since that ridiculous bend test, it seems to have given people license to critique every nook and cranny of the phone.
I won't sweat it.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

So far mine has been excellent .. I love this device. I wouldn't worry about anything -- especially since you're still just in the waiting part. Judge the phone itself once you have it in your hands :).

Got my 6P today (graphite 32 GB). I'm sorry to say it will be going back. When displaying grey or white, the top half of the screen has a very obvious yellow hue, bottom half has a very obvious pink hue. It's clear as day, not something you need to look at just the right angle to see. Being someone who looks at a calibrated monitor all day, incorrect whites stick out to me like a sore thumb. This is the same issue to varying degrees I have seen on half a dozen Note's and Galaxy S6's as well. It's the OLED lottery, from what I understand the screens cut near the edge of the wafer are worse than the ones in the center - not sure if there is truth to that or not. Hopefully my next one is better.

Other than that, this phone is plain awesome. Fast doesn't even describe this phone, it is instantaneous. I just want one with a proper screen!!

Do you guys have pics of this? Something is definitely weird about this screen to my eyes (maybe color oversaturation, coming from a OPO - more "vibrant" as well but I don't think the white's are yellow - definitely get the "pinkish" tone when I turn the screen brightness all the way down though

Do a quick google images search for "galaxy s6 pink hue", and pretty much all the first images show the issue exactly. A portion of the screen is usually fairly yellow, and the other portion fairly pink. This really chaps my *** because the phone is flippin' phenomenal other than the screen hue. Hopefully my replacement is good and I can get on with it.

Edit: Looks exactly like this:

All of you are experiencing and have experienced my biggest gripe I had with my first 6P unit (my replacement 6P is arriving today so hopefully the screen will be right)...that gripe being the screen on my first unit looked [language removed by mod]! I'm sorry but I shouldn't have to look at a phone's screen at the "right angle" in order for the screen to appear normal as it should.

As stated; take my word for it...I know a good thing when I see it (6P design is amazing; pics dont do it justice...feel in hand is amazing, quality construction, AMAZING speakers, blazing fast phone with NO lag, fast fingerprint reader, the camera is nice). It's just the DAMN screen; because even when I reviewed pictures I took on the 6P; the pictures looked off but you know why? It's because the yellow/dingy/off-color screen makes you think the camera is crappy too...but no.

As states my 2nd replacement 6P is arriving today so hooefully it'll be right...I will keep everyone posted. (BTW; do NOT order from Huawei. Order from Google. They ship blazing fast; don't focus on the "estimated ship/arrival" date. I ordered my phone Monday and am getting today (Wednesday).

I don't think I'm getting the yellowing - the whites don't look SUPER WHITE, but there's no yellow tint to it. The reds, yellows, blues, greens just look very VIBRANT lol. Please quote back when you get the new one so I can see if there's been any difference quicker.

I guess the stock is back up BTW. I ordered my phone at the end of September and just got it yesterday lol

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

All I'd say is buy from Google. Their support for me on my Nexus 5 was absolutely astounding with no quibbles and always in my favour with several device swaps (even allowing me not to be phone-less). That's why I've paid a bit more to buy from them than I need to in stores here in the UK.

I did the same with my Nexus 5X. I have been using a Nexus 4 for almost a year after dropping and shattering my Nexus 5 and thought it would be a good replacement. But it was too big for me coming from an N4 and honestly didnt seem that much faster than my N4. I guess LG and Google just did too good of a job with the N4.

So far, I'm loving the 6P. My signal strength is VASTLY improved over the Nexus 6 on Project Fi.

As for the color issue, have you tried switching to sRGB mode in the developer settings? That reduces the oversaturation and may have an impact on the "Yellowing" you're seeing.

Only if I cannot connect to Project Fi. For the last few days I have been trying to get a phone number transfer from the Project Fi SIM, and there seems to be an issue assigning me one. I am waiting for Google Fi technical support to get back to me, and assume this will be resolved shortly.

As far as everything else regarding the phone is concerned, to me it feels like a very solid phone. I am using it on WiFi, the battery seems good, graphics excellent, and very fast.

Hang in there. The Fi connectivity is awesome. I used to get NO signal in my office on rainy days, and today it's completely overcast and I have a full signal.

Did you get the new SIM card from Fi?

The switch to sRGB unfortunately does not help (though I think it is perfect for people who think OLED is too saturated, or prefer Nexus 5 colors). The hue issue is hardware related as it was with the Galaxy S6 and Notes. Same deal wth the Samsung devices - switching through the display modes (photo, cinema, adaptive, etc) did not change the hue to a noticeable degree.

It's encouraging to hear some people say their whites evened out over time, but the longer you wait the less chance you have of a hassle-free warranty claim, and your 'return' window is only two weeks. After you exchange a device once, you can't return it, but you can do multiple exchanges (all according to the Google rep I talked to last night who was awesome by the way, didn't hesitate at all to send me an RMA).

I will reiterate that this is the best phone I have ever used, so once I have this little issue sorted out I will be very happy with it.

answer to thread title: no, i'm just sitting here smh at people such as yourself who want to complain about the stupidest things in order to justify a return. nexus 6p is the best phone on the market and is likely to be (at this point) the greatest phone in the history of humanity if you think about it logically. you won't find a better phone, so if you're not happy with this then so be it. for the record, my phone and my screen are perfect

don't be an ***!!!!!. jk, will return 6p and bring my Lg g3 from back up to dd.

I'm not having any Bluetooth issues at all in my Chevy Volt. You might want to test the Bluetooth connection on another car at your dealer to confirm that the issues is with the phone. You might also want to check and see if there is a firmware update for the head unit in the Camaro.

well if anyone wants to trade i have a note 5 and a mophie case i will trade for the nexus 6p. lol
