Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

As the title says. I'd followed news of this Nexus launch since March, and had my heart set on my first stock Android device. I know that the ruckus going on now is par for the course, with every new phone that launches. I can't deny having niggling doubts, however. I ordered the 6P on 10/27 from Huawei and have an estimated delivery date of late November. That being the case, I wonder which wave of phones mine is in, since I hate being an early adopter anyway. Given Huawei's RMA policy, I'll be very irritated if I have to do so for any reason, after such a long wait. Should something be wrong with this device, I may just wait til the 2016 Moto X is out with the SD 820.

I ordered my Nexus (Graphite 32) from Huawei 10/19 and received it on 11/5 and there's absolutely nothing wrong with the phone from either a software or hardware perspective. It's pure Androidy goodness! Just my two cents.

I'm not having any Bluetooth issues at all in my Chevy Volt. You might want to test the Bluetooth connection on another car at your dealer to confirm that the issues is with the phone. You might also want to check and see if there is a firmware update for the head unit in the Camaro.

Thanks for the info. Car at dealer now with the 6p for trouble shooting tomorrow. Hopefully there is a bluetooth update. I will have them bring out a new camaro and pair to it to see if the issue is the phone or the head unit. It streams flawless on a Nissan sentra 2015, Altima 2013 and $10 bluetooth wireless home speaker. God I love this phone but if unable to resolve phone is going back. I only listen to google music and store music in the phone during my daily one hour drive to and from work.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

I really contemplated the 6p after my Moto arrived (first Moto by the way) but the Moto assist features are really useful.

UPDATE on my replacement 6P I just received...

This unit has NO yellow hue screen.

I'm happy now.

Point is if your 6P has a yellow hue screen or has discoloration issues...don't stand for it and exchange or return it. I did just that and I am now typing this on my replacement 6P with NO screen discoloration issues. This phone is every other phone's daddy, mommy, grandad, grandmother, illegitimate and legitimate child alike! Buy one!

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

I have the MXPE currently that I bought for $350 from Amazon. After reading Almeuit's post I feel even better about not getting a 6P.

Enjoy it. I spoke with a CSR again today, and was told 3rd or 4th week this month. Judging by your dates, it's on track. Hopefully mine is flawless as well. :)

Great to hear, I've been waiting on your update. I have the "coffee stained" screen hoping for the same outcome on my replacement arriving Thursday.

Well I said I would revisit this thread after my phone arrived and it did today. I'm extremely pleased to report that I have none of the issues listed in posts above. No tinted screen hue, no unevenness to the chassis, no problems with the anodized back. Was I lucky? No, just didn't end up with one of the few defective ones that come off the line for every phone ever made.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

Received mine early and have zero issues so far.
Knock on wood!

No. I love mine. No complaints except for the placement of the volume buttons -- but I have the same complaint with the Nexus 6.

Glad to hear it worked out for you! I ordered my replacement tonight, I hope I have similar luck. I know Google is really good about things, but if I had to explain 2 or 3 times why I want a RMA due to screen issues, they may get less accommodating. Hopefully its one & done!

After a full day and a half of use, I see no reason to consider returning mine. Everything appears to be working just fine.

Nice. Happy to hear that. I am requesting for a replacement today and I hope I will receive a good one this time. Unfortunately, in India the stock is limited, so I am gonna receive a new one sometime during end of this month or early December.

Coming from N5 IPS screen, the yellow hue was very noticeable. I read in many posts that it's eventually gonna clear away and we get used to the yellowness. I tried ignoring it, but it's just not improving. I have tried using sRGB mode, but there is no difference. I tried third party software like Darker, which allow us to add a white layer. It reduced the yellowness to an extent, but the colors start looking artificial.

Well I returned mine after 48hrs of use. It's a great phone but I just don't see myself ever getting used to an AMOLED screen (never had one before). I do a lot of reading on my phones including at off axis angles in bed. I just found the colour shifting on a white background too distracting. Also found it just a little too big for one handed operation. I actually have quite large hands and have no trouble with my OPO but the 6p is just that little bit too big. Finally the price here in Ireland is just too high (€700/$750 for 64gb 6p) for a phone that I'm not 100% happy with.

Have to say very smooth RMA process.

Re: Trying Not to Fall Prey to the Loud Minority

Huawei and Google offer 2 different warranties....and Huaweies basically sucks. Its 14-day repair, must ship the phone first vs 2-day and new phone, new phone comes with prepaid lable for return

answer to thread title: no, i'm just sitting here smh at people such as yourself who want to complain about the stupidest things in order to justify a return. nexus 6p is the best phone on the market and is likely to be (at this point) the greatest phone in the history of humanity if you think about it logically. you won't find a better phone, so if you're not happy with this then so be it. for the record, my phone and my screen are perfect
I got stuck on the 6P likely being the greatest phone in the history of humanity! If one thinks about it logically, that is!
I guess this dude likes the Nexus 6P a little bit. Just a bit.

Precisely. I made the same point(s) in an earlier post in this thread. Yes it's encouraging to hear that the screen gets better over time...but how much time? This is a phone not wine. If it doesn't get better in the short window of time one has to return; then you're SOL. But see that is the whole point of my thread; we shouldn't have to give a device some time to get better; especially when it comes to the screen. That doesn't make sense.

Imagine Apple telling consumers; I know your iPhone screen looks like coffee was spilled all over it...but give it some time and that yellow hue might, maybe, could go away. Lol actually I just thought about it and the typical iPhone consumer would probably still buy an Apple product...juuuuuust kidding. Btw; my replacement 6P has arrived and once I get back home I'll give it a run and post back an update...

"Stupidest". Yes stupidest. I'll tell you what is stupidest ... convincing one's self to not complain and keep a device even when MANY Google reps admit that many customers have complained about some (not all) units having discoloration issues.

The "best phone" moniker is subjective and depends on what parameters you are using to call it the "best phone"...not to say one doesn't have a legitimate argument to consider the 6P the best phone...I'm just saying let's be clear and admit its a subjective opinion. What is all this hub-bub you're spewing to try to come across as some sort of technology savant: "the greatest phone in the history of humanity if you think about it logically." ? I am thinking about it logically and no my particular unit (the first one I received) as it came is not the greatest phone in the history of humanity if you think about it logically.

For the record it is great that your 6P arrived perfect...but mine didn't.

Lol

Dude; the processor/chipset is a component of the device...correct? If it works poorly then it is unacceptable. The microphone is a component of the device correct? If it works poorly then it is unacceptable. The screen is a component of the device correct? If it works poorly for some then it is unacceptable. You're pretty much saying (let's use human anatomy as an analogy)..."dude my heart is strong as hell but my left eye only sees yellow and even though I know I can get it fixed or replaced I choose to be a rebel...hellllll yeahhhh...and not do anything about seeing yellow. But, but, but my heart beats and runs epic as hell duuuude."

Point is; any component of a device that doesn't work as it should is unacceptable.
Fanboy or brick wall. You'll have the same amount of success trying to reason with either. I prefer the brick wall. At least it listens.
