I should know this, but my "downloads" icon is missing!?

The "downloads" icon is not on home screen or apps. How do I fix that?

I don't remember the S5 having a "download" icon by default. You can get a file explorer like ES File Explorer and view all your downloaded content in your downloads folder.

The Nova Launcher will help you set up shortcuts.

But I don't recall ever seeing an icon labeled 'downloads'

My Verizon S5 had an "app" called Downloads until the November update(at least I think it was November). Now you can find your downloads under "My Files" in the app drawer. YMMV by carrier though.

Sorry to threadjack OP, but why don't you like the Samsung keyboard, and what do you use in lieu?

Normally I use Google Keyboard, but I recently reset my phone any have been using the stock Samsung Keyboard. The Samsung Keyboard just seems a bit too touchy to me, such as letters I'm not going for being pressed.

My galaxy s3 and samsung galaxy tab 4 had it, and now its missing
The tab4 had like a light blue one and my s3 had a black a green icon

Samsung devices have a built in file explorer. There is a "downloads" section you can look into to see the files you have downloaded to your device.
