I suggested to my best friend she consider getting the Incredible

Actually, I'm sure that if HTC would get with the program, they could fix the issue with a software update. I use hardly any space in my phone, and it still comes up from time to time, usually after I install a large app. Usually, when I clear the data for some apps with a feed, it goes away pretty quickly. The biggest culprits, according to HTC, are the stock e-mail app and text messaging.

Again, I'm very surprised this wasn't solved in the November OTA.

Because it is more than just a glitch, the quota command (what the os runs on a scheduled cron job to determine how much free space you have) is pretty fundamental to the Linux OS. You get the error when:

1. The market tries to install a new or upgraded app and the quick check it runs says there isn't enough space (most often)
or
2. when a scheduled run of quota tells the OS that it is below a certain threshold of memory (less often),

Either way the problem is with quota which is either misreporting the amount of memory available in in general or during theses spot checks. I get the impression that most of yo think it is the former (just the spot checks) but I have come to suspect it is the latter and I don't really have 300+mb of space free on my phone.

I still find my dinc , to be well incredible , as well as dependable .l have not one regret of purchasing it. Highly recommend :D

That bug, and the charging bug and the two major complains against the Incredible. HTC never fixed them (and I do believe they are HTC bugs). The app space problem is hit-or-miss and is really just an annoyance if you get it. Most users won't have the problem and can load apps until their hair turns blue.

For me, the charging issues were fixed with the Nov OTA update. After FROYO upgrade, battery life sucked and it took forever to charge. After the Nov update, battery usage and charging speed are back to 2.1 levels, which is great.

As far as the low memory issue, I never had that one.

I had a client, who also has a DInc, ask me the other day what he should upgrade to since he had another upgrade coming on his account.

I told him that I didn't see anything else on VZW that was better then the DInc overall. He thought the X was too big and he was looking at the Fascinate. When I told him about the GPS and that it was waiting for Foryo he said ?Cool - I'll wait until you tell me there is something better out there!? ;)

At this point, might as well wait for a 4G phone like Dinc HD. Should be out early next year.

exactly...Dinc is still one of the best phones on VZW ask any kind of phone expert basically between the Dinc and DX its all about preference do you a huge phone? thats buggy or do you want a very clean pockatable phone that is probably still one of the fastest out there

which is what i meant when i said another verizon rep not knowing what he's talking about age may be a factor in some phones but the Dinc is just to powerful to be outdated bye the DX or the fascinate if he really knew what he was talking about he'd know the droid incredible is still one of the top android smartphones

Agreed the Droid Incredible is probable the best phone on Verizon, though when the thunderbolt[also known as the droid incredible HD] comes out it will be the best. Probable coming out on January 6th. Also if anyone says another phone is faster. Well it has a 1 GHz proccessor which is the current fastest proccessor.

Doesn't the Droid 2 global have a 1.2 ghz processor?

Not that it matters, with Motoblur mucking things up so much...

I came over to Android after having a phone I really enjoyed, the BB Storm 2. That phone, which I do miss at times, was sent to my sis who needed a hand. I subsequently got the DInc, after hemming and hawing for 30 days, over the DX. Matter of fact, I finally made a decision to go with the DX but lost track of the time and called in on the day after the 30 day trial was up. Well, not much I could do except be thankful. A close friend went with the DX and is on his 4th one while my little DInc keeps cruising along. I read back in these posts as I glanced through them that someone mentioned dropping into the VZ stores occasionally to test drive. This is something I do also, and have yet to find anything that is all that much better than the DInc at this point...IMHO. Another important piece of advice given to me by a highly placed mucky muck in the technology world is to not concern yourself...at this point, anyway...with "chasing" Android technology. This has been a fairly sound bit of advice. The DInc has proven to be a very good device, if not excellent. Again, this is my humble opinion.

Blessings...Steve

Im on my 3rd day with my Incredible and it's as advertised. I have the 3500 extended battery and although it's thicker, i still love it. It's fast, it's gret to look at and the camera is great. All i need now is a case to fit the extended battery then i'll be good. Loving this droid life.

well, my dear friend has been playing with the Incredible and she is seriously thinking about it. I have told her she will love it once she is used to it.
I live in AZ and she wishes I could teach her about it. She is in CA. I am more technical than she is. So it will be a very huge learning curve for her. I told her if that one doesn't suit her she should go with the MotoDroid 2. She likes a physical keyboard. Her husband has the X and surprisingly to me he loves it. And trust me, he has no patience on learning something. But he loves it. So, if he can learn about the X, she certainly can learn about the Incredible.
Thank you everyone for your input.
