I think how the battery performs depends on the attached watch

I love the Moto 360. It's exactly the smart watch I want. It's beautiful.

But...

I can't get past the battery life. I've had it for 5 days and even though I charge it for 45 minutes around mid-day it only lasts until about 9:30pm before I have to put it on the charger again. I also notice that my Note 3 runs out of battery about 5pm. It never needed to be charged during the day, ever, since I got it last October until I got the Moto 360.

I'm of the belief that there's something going on between the two devices that causes battery drain. I see, on the forums, that other Note 3 users are having a similar experience with the Moto 360.

I want the Moto 360 to work, I really do, but while mid-day charging works on the weekdays at my desk, I don't have that luxury on the weekends. It'll be dead around late afternoon or early evening.

I'm thinking that it could be different with the Note 4 when it arrives mid October. But, until then, I think I'll return the Moto 360 and go back to my Pebble, and then try again in October with the Note 4. If it doesn't work then I'll have to wait for the second generation Moto 360. I have no doubt that Motorola will fix this in the second generation. No other watch comes close so I'll wait for them to fix it.

I have a Note 3. I was having issues with the app wearable widgets always running in the background. It killed my phone Battery and my watch battery. Deleted that app and I make it through the day with plenty to spare on both.

I also have a Note 3 paired with my 360. Took my 360 off charger around 930 ...so about a bit over 10 hours use...still at 58%! Working good for me!!!

Ok, you guys have convinced me to do some more research into what might be causing the problem between my Note 3 and the 360. Here's my level of dedication: I'm going do a factory rest of both my Note and the watch. We'll see if that fixes things. Keeping my finger's crossed.

That's some dedication :)
My uneducated guess would be a Wear app causing it. You may want to start with vanilla Wear apps, and then install more one by one as you check performance.

I've reset the phone. But, now that you mention it I was using an app to keep my phone unlocked when within range of the watch. I'd bet that app was spending a lot of time talking to the watch. Anyway, I'll know more tomorrow.

Maybe you have a defective watch? Or possibly have ambient mode turned on? If either one of those is the case the fixes are easy. I cannot attest to the battery life of my watch because it is still at the FedEx facility nearby. I'll be getting it tomorrow at which point I can put it to the test for a few days and report back.

I'm using Pebble Locker for that, doesn't seem to be taxing my battery much.

On the first day, I noticed my Active Display on my Moto X knockoff was constantly flaring up with the watch, but I haven't seen that happen nor a change in battery life. The actual watch face itself has been the biggest battery factor for me so far, even larger than ambient face.

You should download gsam battery monitor to see what drains your phone battery. Should help pinpoint your problem

I have a Razr M (only 2 months left) and my battery life has been **** since i hooked the 360 to it. I used to be able to just get thru a 17hr day without a charge if i was in areas with good cell coverage. But the last two weeks with the 360 hooked to it i have been having to charge the phone around mid-day from below 20% and then just now at 10pm it's beeped at me that it's at 14%. I'm chocking it up to old phone right now but it still suck.

I have actually been getting better battery life on my moto x since using the Moto 360. I no linger have to pull the phone out to look at every notification. It allows me to get more use out of the phone for other things like playing games.

Yeah that is the really hard part to belive. I'm getting about half the battery life on the phone that i used to but my "screen on" time has gone from a few hours a day to under and hours since i see all my notification on the 360 and leave my phone in my pocket most of the time.
