I think my Flight Mode broke

It never actually turns on. It gets stuck in the state of turning on, but never finishes so I end up with no service (or flight mode doing nothing) and I have to reboot the phone to fix and then it does it again. True to Samsung form since I first started using their products. Any way to fix? I'll be switching to iPhone 6 once I can pay the £260 odd to get rid off this handset

Is there a 3rd party app you might have installed that might be preventing the Airplane mode to kick in? You say you are getting disconnected, though.

I've had the S4 before and didn't have any issues back then. I've also owned an S2, Note 2, and Note 3 (current phone) and have never had an issue with Airplane mode not activating/deactivating.

Possible. What kind of apps should I be looking at as the main culprit?

Anything that can 'take over' any of your radios, like WiFi or GPS. Tasker perhaps? A network manager or VPN app?
