I walked into Walmart and got one

I was finally able to pick up an EVO 4G LTE at another Walmart. The story about not being able to upgrade if phone is long distance is bogus. I did, however, need to use that direct number listed on page 2 I believe to get Sprint to fix the wimax/lte error.

I had ordered with Wirefly...when early on they said they were not going to get even launch day phones, I moved to Amazon. Finally couldnt take it anymore and got the single Evo LTE at a local Walmart. Actually quicker than any phone i have purchased at a sprint store.
AND in a call I placed to Sprint I got the activation fee waived.
Rooted and ready to go now.

Just tried my luck at a walk-in walmart pickup... No dice.. Drove to one. They sold sprint phones but don't have the LTE in there books or on the shelf. Called another.. Said they sold sprint phones asked what model I was looking for then proceeded to place me on hold just to return to the line and say sorry ... We don't sell sprint phones..urgh
... still waiting on Best Buy...

Just an update...

Long story short I got my EVO!

As I mentioned in my earlier post a guy at the walmart I went to couldn't locate it in their inventory so I went home last night disappointed. Anyway I woke up and decided that wasn't good enough for me. So I called the same store back this morning. ( The actual cellphone rep was in ) asked if they had any EVO LTE in stock. He says YES! we got one... First I thought he was confused or I was still drowsy and only heard what I wanted to hear. So I said forget it if he pulls out a Evo 3d or LG viper like I have read on previous post I'm going to go nuts. ( the store isn't exactly up the street ) I hopped in traffic and made the trip ... He was on his job IT WAS THE LTE...

The phone was DOA.. signed a new contract ( only took 20min ) and brung it home to charge. Once it had enough power it went through all of the motions and activated itself flawlessly.. no errors
Im super happy!!

Thanks OP and everyone for the heads up. would have still been waiting on Best Buy for the next ummm... so many days because no one has a clue. Glad the constant email inbox refresh is behind me.

Now on to the fun parts

The WalMart near me has at least one in stock. I stopped by yesterday out of curiosity, and there it was. I had convinced myself that I can keep rocking my OG Evo, because it works for me just fine. The extra battery, and all the other features keep calling to me though. Seeing it there on the shelf, I had this personal crisis. I was pacing, and trying to rationalize getting it. In the end I forced myself to leave without getting it. I won the battle yesterday, but I might lose the war and still get one.
The purpose of this post: Yet another WalMart had one in stock.

yesterday i was reading this thread and decided to call my local wm. Lo and behold! Canceled my bb preorder as well. The sweetest part though, was that it rang up at $78.88. I wasn't sure why until i checked the receipt later and saw that he rang it up as an htc evo design 4g.

Our sprint store said they didn't know when they were getting any or when they were going to be on sale. They told me to stop back tomorrow and they might be able to tell me then. I think there was a new guy in there with the guy I usually work with so he couldn't give me a "heads up" in advance. I might have to see if BB or walmart can get me any kind of a trade in deal since i have only had my 3d for a year.

Also, gotta be careful with the 10 they have...I know my BB has 11 preorders to handle before they start selling their EVOs to the general public. So if my BB received 10 EVOs, there would be 1 really upset preorder person along with everyone else didnt preorder who couldnt get a phone at that best buy. Hopefully I wont be that 11th person LOL

Not saying that will be your situation, just making everyone else aware that the BB said preorders will take precedence over regular (walk in) sales
