I wanna know your opinions about the notch.

Is the notch bad?

I love this phone but the notch sucks. it's a bandwagon notch. it has zero reason for existing.

the iPhone notch makes sense. almost bezelless display (save for the notch) and the notch houses face id, which is amazing.

not saying the iPhone notch is better looking, because it isn't. however, its existence is at least justified. the pixel 3 XL's isn't. the pixel 3 has the exact specs and is a much better looking phone. I hate how we have a notch and a huge bottom chin.

Keep your chin up, notchless phones are right around the corner ;-)

I don't like the notch, but it is manageable with the Natcho Notch app. If we have to have the notch I wish it was the size of the notification shade only. I like the Sammy bezels setup with the Google updates would be great.

I seriously thought it was Google trolling people and that they'd release a bezel-less phone.. guess not!

That's what I was hoping for. When I saw the leaks about the notch I didn't want anything to do with the Pixel 3 XL.

The Essential phone and now the oneplus 6t did it right. Samsung still hasn't adopted the notch. So the hideous notch on the 3 XL was certainly a bad design choice.

After using the phone for a few days now I find myself remaining notch-less. The notch is aggressively large and does not play well with a lot of apps. One major peeve is when you pinch to zoom videos full screen THE NOTCH DIGS INTO THE VIDEO! I have also noticed that apps have more trouble moving out of full screen with the notch engaged. For now the notch-less look is definitely better. It would be almost perfect if the status bar remained in the black area above screen instead of supered over the screen.

What does the notch have to do with that?
Because people make a big deal out of it ever since the iPhone X.

The notch is just a tiny design detail but people lose their minds over it.

To me, that just says smartphone design has more than stagnated

Now I understand....I thought you were saying that the Notch itself was a result of boring phones. Unfortunately there's not much you can do with a rectangle that has to support external hardware.

Re: Notches are proof that smartphone design has gotten generic and boring

We always had "notches", they just extended all the way across the screen. We didn't "get notches", they removed the dead area from everything but the center.

For me it is there until they can find a way to get the cameras and such under the screen.

People screamed for less bezels -- they got it -- and now they cry about a notch that they never used to see because bezels existed :P.

if Google has a notch on the next Pixel, it'll be something they can work on

This. People are looking at this all wrong. Google has smartly provided us with a little mobile desk area to use while keeping our phone features available. Expect Google to expand this concept next year.

No, the whole smartphone market is getting boring as hell.

Typed this on the satisfying keys of my KEY2 LE, one of the only devices that stand out in a sea of notched glass sandwich slabs.

The notch isn't as bad as the iPhone's, although if the Pixel had something similar to what the new iPad has, than nearly all opinions would change.

LMAO....I hope they include a good office chair to go with it if they plan on increasing the price any more.
