Yep, they never stopped talking about the blue tint on the pixel 2 XL either. Like it or not. The notch will forever be linked with the 3 xl

Almost every manufacturer has gone to the notch .

I just turned mine off. Problem solved. I accepted the fact that this phone had a notch that may or may not be able to be disabled before I purchased the phone. I chose to disable it once I purchased the phone. Making the screen the same size as the 2XL.

if you own this phone and complain about the notch... Shame on you. Google did not sneak it in after you bought it.

I'm normally in the same camp on this. because of the way that Android is structured with the notifications and what not at all the content starting about an inch below the top of the screen... you're literally focusing on the middle of the screen at most times meaning that the notch is in your peripheral.

As shown in this picture... about 100% of my focus is on the area that is great in this picture and not on the green parts.

I haven't even had my phone for 24 hours. My current opinion is the status bar should always be black. The notch blends in great and the icons appear to just be floating you still have a larger screen for everything else.
This colored and tinted status bar looks dumb but it's not a deal breaker.

Never noticed it when using Chrome but I stopped using it. I'm OK with the stock option

I have had the 3 XL since October 18th and it's the first phone I have owned with a notch. With that said, after day 3 I hardly ever notice the notch anymore. Most apps use some sort of sizing that the notch doesn't interfere with them, it doesn't lessen the screen size or usable space. When watching videos...YouTube or Netflix I completely forget the notch is even there. It may look ugly in pictures but once you start using it daily I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Just got my pixel 3 xl on black Friday. Tried my hardest to force myself to ignore the notch. Kept it all throughout the weekend but Monday I finally broke and turned it off. I wouldn't go so far as to say it terrible but I just find it very unappealing and distracting personally. Still plenty of screen without it. Glad they gave us all the option!

Right.... It's OK to feel that way, but then it doesn't matter unless it keeps you from buying it.

For me, it seems that the tab is always showing the clock or notifications or other important information outside of the main screen. To me, that is convenient. It hasn't bothered me.

What notch? I'm using a very colorful wallpaper that happens to be black around that area. I don't see a notch at all.
