But on my line I don't have an upgrade until 8/2014. I have heard of people calling customer service and actually getting ATT to let them upgrade that much earlier.

So how should I approach this? Anyone specific I should ask for ie: certain dept or a manager? I have 1 upgrade on one of my lines but my hubby wants to use it for the Q10 or Z30 when it comes to ATT. I have upgraded my phone so much before him, I really want him to use it but it will be hard for him to get a new phone and me still having the S4 (even though I just got that and used the mother in laws upgrade on her line) Sorry I am a phone junkie but aren't we all.

Any advice on how I can try to do this is much appreciated! I have 4 lines on my acct and have been with ATT since 2009.

How many months left till your next upgrades? It depends on the reason. You can request them to override an upgrade if its almost time for an upgrade or, you can try the AT&T NEXT (I wouldn't recommend it, however its optional which is good and it comes at a price). Read about AT&T NEXT on the site and use Google if you need deep information to understand it better.

I for one am planning on using AT&T NEXT to get the Windows Phone, Nokia Lumia 1520. I am guessing they want me to put 80 dollars down (they charged the tax base on the full price for the phone) and then pay 30 (approx) monthly for 2 years then its mine to keep or, I can pay for a year and as long the phone is in a good shape, I can upgrade yearly by giving back the phone in a good condition.

I hope this helps!

Well isnt the At&t next all they have now. We called them about it at one of the local stores and they said to do that you have to have an upgrade available on one of the lines. Which we do on 1. So if my upgrade is available in Aug of next year that means 9 mos until I can upgrade...

I heard of people doing it a year early even before they started the At&T next program. That is what I would do is pay the monthly on both phones if they let me upgrade too.

Yes you are available for an upgrade. Give it a try. Good luck and hopefully all goes well! Enjoy your new phone. :]

I would Google att next program it is not good. Check with att to see if you get charged a subsidy charge automatically on your account making the monthly charge unreasonable.

I called AT&T about 2 weeks ago to inquire about an upgrade. I wasn't due until end of March (but was due the 18 month upgrade until they changed that in the summer). Explained to the rep that my daughter's phone was dying and needed to upgrade mine so I could hand my current one over to her. Our AT&T acct is 10 years old so he suggested he ask his supervisor if he could help me out with an early upgrade and free next day shipping, and after a 2 minute hold he came back to say it was approved. While my situation was real, I don't see why you couldn't use something like that.
