I want to clear "learned words" on my Galaxy S6 Edge PLus

I already have this enabled, still no go. It only works for the contacts view, but not in the word list.

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING

Oh.. Misunderstood that you were talking about predictions for typing.

Is there not a setting to turn off predicting contacts and emojis, etc? I haven't used the stock Samsung keyboard since the Note 2 so I'm not familiar with it.

Clearing the data from the keyboard IS the solution. The trick is you have to disable the default setting to sync keyboard data off in your Samsung Account sync settings. Disable that, and clear your keyboard data, all done! Worked for me and hasn't come back!

I went into Samsung Account settings and turned off some of the syncing stuff that would perhaps be associated with e-mails and such (gmail, people, and social media accounts). Then I cleared the keyboard data. 24 hours later all the learned words are back. Every e-mail address in my gmail history and a bunch that are nowhere to be found in my gmail. Still.

And my gmail e-mails stopped showing up in the gmail app on my phone.

Maybe I did something wrong, but again I need specific help.

Open settings:
accounts>Samsung>deactivate Samsung keyboard sync.

Return to settings:
Applications>manage applications>Samsung keyboard>clear data...

(Do not reactive Samsung keyboard sync)

This should, at least for now, solve the issue until Samsung removes this feature.

Hey i just got mine fixed. Just click settings-Language and input-samsung keyboard- predicted text OFF

That should do the trick

I have read all the fixes that aren't working to solve the problem and decided to try a workaround instead. I downloaded the Google keyboard and have been trying it in place of the Samsung keyboard. The problems go away. A word removed seems to stay removed. And email addresses are not suggested anymore, whether ones I use regularly that are in my current contact list or ones I used once five years ago and aren't in my contacts.

Additionally, when I open an incognito tab and click the address bar, it doesn't suggest a list of words or email addresses at all. After all, since it is "incognito," it defeats the purpose if one can open the tab and have it not only suggest something like "Ilovepornos.net" but not let it remove the word. C'mon Samsung, what is up?

My phone is a new Note 5 that replaced a Note 3, both with Android 5.1.1. The problems started with the new Verizon phone.

I don't like the look of the Google keyboard, but I can live with it for now...but this needs to be fixed.

Samsung needs to fix this permanently. I did however follow the recommended process and it is working. ..for now anyway

Something that worked for me was when the word you want to delete comes up above the keyboard as your typing, long press the word and it will ask you if you want to delete it from learned words... Hope that helps...

The reason it's doing this is because every email address has been saved and hidden in your contacts. Go into you contacts and hit search. Then pick a random letter to start with. I used Z. It'll pop up email contacts starting with z. Check off each one individually. Once done pick another letter and do the same. Keep doing this until you have checked off every one of them and hit delete. I had more than 1000. After you do this itll stop adding them into your learned words after you delete them.

I just found something that seems to have worked so far.
Language and Input -> Samsung Keyboard -> Reset Settings (at the the bottom) -> Clear Personalized Data
Working so far on my Galaxy S7.

Doing this turns predictive text-off, but it also turns off the Swype feature unfortunately. Still looking for a solution.

Email addresses that I had manually deleted from auto-populate were popping up AGAIN - and my auto-spacing mysteriously turned off. UGH. I just tried the keyboard reset recommended in the chain below. Will see what happens!

Settings, system, language and input, select settings icon next to Samsung Keyboard, select predictivetext, then clear personalised data

Or depending on device it may be Settings, Personal, language and settings etc

This is BS....I switched to Android over a week ago and it's all these little things really pissing me off. I typed in a phrase without spaces as a hashtag joke, and now whenever I start typing the word "Good", it replaces it with that phrase!!!! Even though I long pressed on the word and hit "remove from learned words". Why isn't this working????

Whenever I write a text message, the predictive process always suggests learned words as I begin typing a word. In my case, it is suggesting every e-mail address that my gmail has ever received an e-mail from, that has been CC'd on an e-mail I have received, or that I have sent an e-mail to. It's crazy.

I am looking for a way to clear ALL learned words in one shot. I know I can do it one at a time when the learned word appears, but that will take forever. There should be a way to clear all of the learned words out of my Samsung S6 Edge plus.

Further, not all of the learned words even clear when I clear them individually.

Any help?

If you press and hold the word in your predictive text screen, you'll be given an "unlearn" word option. Takes forever, but works.

I've seen this explanation in a couple places now. Trying it. Seems to have worked for now, but I'll see if it "sticks" or of it recurs like before.

OK this really annoyed me as well.
So with a little bit of playing around I think I have got it to work.
Firstly bring up the word or email you don't want to use. Now add a space then delete that space. The word you don't want should be in the predictive box above the keyboard. Press and hold on that word and it will ask you if you want to remove it from learned words.
Not sure if it works on re-synching email addresses.
Working on galaxy s6 edge.

I think I might have figured it out. Go to Contacts, then Settings. Untoggle 'Contacts with numbers'. Then go back into Contacts. I had accidentally searched 8, and had a whole bunch come up. But as I scrolled down through the alphabet of contacts I found all the emails Google had been harboring over the years. Mainly Craigslists for sale ads I had answered. After you're done clicking and deleting. I had over 60. Go back and retoggle the 'Contacts with numbers'. Hopefully that should fix this annoying issue.

Everyone,

I tried all of your suggestions, and none of them solve the issue for good (the email addresses and websites always come back in the predictive list).

The only real answer here is to install the Google keyboard and use it instead of the Samsung keyboard. The keyboard is free I the app store and it has a specific setting to not include contact details in your auto-suggest options (which is turned off by default).

I made the switch today and I'm shocked how much better it is compared to the Samsung keyboard. It fixes a bunch of problems I had with the keyboard that I didn't even realize we're getting in my way. I highly recommend everyone make the switch asap.
