I want to record outdoor, nature sounds (crickets, birds, cicadas, etc)

I have a motorola E phone, and see no apps for sound recording in settings. I was unsuccessful trying to follow directions of folks who
responded to similar questions online.

Welcome to Android Central.

If that device has no built-in sound recorder, you could download a suitable app from the Play Store. Do a Play Store app search, entering Sound Recorder or Audio Recorder in the search box.
