I want to TURN OFF the swipe to delete function!

Big hands, keep deleting messages by mistake. Want to turn it off! Please advise how to do this. Thanks.

If you're at Google Keyboard go to the Google Keyboard settings: Gesture typing, and switch off "Enable gesture delete"
