It's quite black of course!

Joking aside, judging from the hands-on videos I've watched I think it's matte black with a little bit of shine still present.

I just wish that both the white and blue versions had a black front, similar to the Nexus line, regardless on the rest of the body color. To me that was a way to separate a Google phone from the others.

Plus it hides all of those sensors on the front. Just my 2 cents...

I didn't want to create a thread just to ask this but I've heard others say the black looks more like gray than truly black. Can someone please confirm this? I'd hate to get the black version and be disappointed by it's color upon arrival. If it's more of a gray I'm waiting on the blue 32gb pixel.

It's not black as in latest Samsung flagship (true black) or any other true black phones that I've seen before. It's definitely a more dark gray color than black. Just sold it and got the silver/white just because of that.

I have a black Pixel XL. I'm getting rid of it for blue. The black shows swirls very easily, especially on the back glass.

I was going to go with the silver initially but ended up settling on the blue. Being from Chicago and having a winning team in baseball this year this phone certainly stands out and gets a lot of comments. Most people really like it. It's also my fave color. Silver would have been my next choice though. I don't mind the white front at all. I actually like it

Lucky you were able to grab the blue. I keep checking daily and signed up to be advised but nothing so far. I was hoping to be able to get the 32gb regular pixel before the coming holidays but it's not looking very good right now. Based on the videos it looks pretty awesome, although perhaps a bit "toyish" but I've held the silver and don't like it.

I have the 32gb regular. Kinda does look a little toyish as you state, but I've always been one to deviate against the norm. At times I wish I didn't have to keep a case on it as it looks really cool without it
