I am stock but a link said you do not have to be unlocked to do that as well as it would do a temp root to update then lock it down again. But thanks for looking. Its all good you dont have time. I know people have lives. I am just home for the month on convalescent leave. lol
Any idea when the OTA update will hit?
If it's soon I'll wait, otherwise I'll apply as suggested in this thread.
yes.
1) unlocked and rooted device brought back to 100% stock 4.0.2.
2) downloaded IMM76K, rebooted into recovery flashed the update file, rebooted to 4.0.4, still unlocked but now un-rooted.
3) installed the su.zip file provided (NOT the Superuser 3.0.7 file as that didn't work), flashed via recovery, rebooted and was rooted again.
4) reflashed recovery to 5.5.0.4 for good measure
5) updated superuser binary to 3.0.3.2
6) enjoying life
Thanks for the advice. Im trying not to unlock my bootloader though as I dont want to wipe the phone.
Does unlocking the bootloader alone wipe the phone's data? I am interested in installing this update manually, but not at the cost of having to set up everything on my phone again. So far, my phone is working pretty well and I only want to do the update if it is entirely painless.
