Not sure anyone can help, but i am unlocked and rooted using Wugs toolkit, and i can't boot into recovery. Both root manager and the three button power on end up giving me sad Droid when i choose recovery.
edit update...
Used ROM manager to flash cwm (5.5.0.4) and the phone will now go into recovery from ROM manager.
The update fails though, with an assertion error. Something is not lining up.
Hi Guys...need your help.
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
4.0.2
ICL53F
I used the Galaxy Nexus Casual R117 root program to Root my phone without unlocking/wiping. I did not instal the clock work recovery. Only rooted.
Today I have been getting the request to update to IMM76K but when I select to install it restarts my phone and hangs at the Google screen. I tried running a program called OTA Rootkeep which backed up my root and then allowed me to "un-root" my phone. So now when I run the OTA Rootkeeper program it shows my status as "un-rooted."
When I now try to run the IMM76K OTA update I still hang at the same google screen.
Please let me know how to proceed at this point. I do not want to wipe this phone and I would like to re-enable root after getting IMM76K installed by using the OTA Rookeeper app.
Thanks for the help!
Andre
I believe I have no recovery? I didn't set up any sort of recover...just ran the option to root the phone with no wiping necessary.
Not sure what you mean by WUGs...
Below is the link where I downloaded the rooting application. I only ran the root / without wipe portion of the app...nothing else.
[Windows][Linux][Mac][One-Click] Root - CWM - Galaxy Nexus 4.0.1 & 4.0.2 -NO WIPE- - xda-developers
I am not very familiar with rooting droid phones but I can follow any instructions your give me to get it working.
So as of right now:
I have OTA Rootkeeper installed
I have "un-rooted" the phone using OTA Rootkeeper
I also have not "unlocked" the phone as far as I know....the Rooting application above says your can root without wiping / unlocking
When I try the OTA update...I get stuck at the Google icon.
If I pull the battery the phone functions fine at build 4.02 but I get update reminders every 5 minutes.
The one click app didn't have an un-root option...but that OTA Rootkeeper app does...so I ran that one. But it still didn't work
Windows or Mac?
I could create a CWM using the same application I used to root...would that help?
but does Wugs require a phone wipe when rooting?
One user reported that it did wipe, so you should back your stuff up of you use it.
I suggest installing a custom recovery like you would normally, following the guides found here and linked in the original post, and then using my instructions to manually flash the update.
