From what was just put on the main blog page, I'd have to say Yes... HTC says first Ice Cream Sandwich updates coming in March, adds more phones to the list

I've already stated this in this thread, I have no interest in ICS for the Thunderbolt! Why risk screwing up a very stable device at this point? It's not like you're going to see ICS anyway with Sense.
For those clamoring for ICS on the Thunderbolt, what exactly is it going to give you that you don't already have now?

You make a good point. It's not as if the TBolt is not working. It works just fine right now. It is cool to get the latest OS upgrade but is it really necessary?

I'm listening to the Podcast right now... and they are saying the same thing. If HTC intended to give ICS to the Thunderbolt they would have said so. Phil just said on the Podcast that HTC admitted to putting out some very bad phones... and Phi was sure the TB was part of that. Even if I still had a TB today, I'd pay the money to buy a new device right now, or very soon, off contract.... and if I really wanted a HTC phone I might think of that new Verizon HTC phone: Unannounced HTC device emerges sporting ICS, Verizon 4G LTE... but I just wanted to buy the best device I could find, and right now I don't think it's HTC.

My position still stands. This is still someone's opinion and not a statement from HTC. Until there is an official statement from HTC that says either way, no one can say with certainty whether or not the TBolt will be getting ICS. None of the guys in the podcast work for HTC, so anything they say about this is commentary. They may very well be correct, but we don't know that yet.

Well... there is always rooting... and I'm sure there will be ICS version available. But knowing what we know now, the one I'd be concerned with is that HTC will not even work on an ICS version for the TB until they are done with the list of device's they already published, which will take time... and they said in their post that no even the Rezound will see ICS right away.

One has to wonder if the delay for the Rezound is related to CDMA, given what we now know about CDMA with the GN. I'm sure the TBolt will get ICS from the community well before the "official" release. Chances are the Rezound will as well!
What worries me is that the radio in the tbolt is unique so developers may not be able to kang data connection even after ics is released in phones like the rezound.

In my opinion, with the way the Thunderbolt stands right now, you'd be totally wasting your money to do that.
The current Gingerbread build on the Thunderbolt is very much Android Done Right. Everything just works as it should, when it should.
My only remaining Thunderbolt-specific complaint (which has been largely but not completely fixed) is battery life. A stock battery has barely enough juice to get me through a moderate day. But the HTC extended battery (which I had to buy back when I was on FroYo because I couldn't get through a full day without it) is now a 24-36 hour battery, 48 if I use it sparingly - as good as my Blackberry (with the tiny non-touch half screen) was back when I carried one. My Seidio Active case/holster makes it convenient, and I understand that I can have a large screen, long battery life, or a small/lightweight phone - as long as I pick only two of those. I want humongous screen and long battery life, please.
I'm not sure I want ICS, to be honest. Gingerbread gave me video conferencing and a day and a half of battery life. I can't think of a single thing I want my phone to do (short of working when it's VERY cold out, and waterproofness so I can use it where I currently use my ruggedized camera) that my Thunderbolt can't do but another Android phone could.
Two and a half months and 97 posts later...the only thing that I (or anybody) can absolutely positively 100% without a shadow of a doubt confirm is...SPECULATION.

Didn't Google say that manufacturers or cellphone companies had to keep their fones updated with latest software for up to 18 months? Or something like that?

Hey fatboy, question, do you know anything of the Galaxy S II. I am thinking of switching to T-Mobile (I want a GSM carrier) and today only T-Mo is offering the phone for free after rebate which would basically cover the pro rated ETF from VZW. It is dual core I did research, but wondered what are your thoughts.
