For the last two days the majority of my apps have been updating (I suspect to ICS compatability).

This same thing happened with my Xoom WiFi earlier this week:; just before I got OTA ICS upgrade.

ICS on Xoom made most things better, with very few problems.

allround good show.

Asus has said it's slated for mid-February. So soon.

After playing with a friends Xoom with ICS I'm not really as excited. Not much different experience than honeycomb in my opinion.

Glad I bought the original Transformer on Black Friday instead of splurging for the prime.

According to Asus on Facebook a few days ago, the update has been submitted to Google for approval, so it should just be a matter of time

I don't expect we will see a dramatic change between Honeycomb and ICS on the ASUS. ICS is mostly an integration of phone and tablets into one operating system. On the phone side, it will be pretty substantial.

it is bad that the ICS "feature" im looking forward to most for my transformer is the roboto font? :p

I suspect "vicw" has it right. However, there are a few nice improvements, and my Xoom is much smoother, and I believe faster, after the upgrade.

I had no problems at all, other than reinstalling a few apps. After reinstall my netflix plays better. No hiccups and voice sinc is now very good. Of course, Netflix always has played better on my TF101.

It won't be Earth Shaking, but I think most will like the new OS.

:) I got the ICS update, and my transformer prime yesterday. version 4.0.3 ( kernel 2.6.39.4, android@MiuMiu #1) The one thing that I noticed is that it takes better advantage of the quad core processor.

I appreciated your comment on this thread. It helps in the context of our expectations of the ICS transition on the TF.

Did u all miss that ICS came out on the 20th for the Prime? I can't see how someone just getting there Prime yesterday and updating to the current release for the device helps us in any way with "expectations of the ICS transition".

I was talking about expectations of functionality and performance differences between Honeycomb and ICS, not about the timing of the update releases between the two devices.

Oh I see it now how could I of missed it.

"The one thing that I noticed is that it takes better advantage of the quad core processor."

Our Quad core will work better and you know our Quad core really needs some help since its not even there.

People seem to missed the fact that ics is the first version of the os that is fully hardware accelerated. This in itself should make everything seem faster and smoother.

@zedora Yes, ours doesn't have the Quad Core, but on the other hand, he didn't see any major changes in behavior or features, which I expect will be common to the our experience with the transition to ICS.

I really don't expect a radical change with ICS. I know there will be some improvements, and at least one step backward that I know about, and our TF is working just fine, so I'm not staying awake nights waiting for Santa to deliver my shiny new OS.

My wife and I have been happier with the TF than with any tech purchase we've ever made, and ASUS has been above and beyond with support and delivery of updates. If it takes another month to get ICS to us, I'm fine with that.

What, exactly, is your problem? How about thinking before you type next time?

What step backwards?

The backward step I mentioned is that Google removed the capability to separate control of Ringer and Notification volume levels in ICS, and I probably shouldn't have mentioned it in this thread.since tablets don't use the ringer anyway.

It does affect some phone users, like me, who want to keep their phone ringer volumes on, but mute notifications during sleep time. There is an ongoing string of complaints about that problem on the Google issues site, but no telling if Google will restore the capability.

You can use settings profile to achieve this, if you're interested. I use it to allow family calls at night to ring and others don't, but you could have a profile that turns up the ringer \ notification volume on an incoming call and mute the rest of the time.
