I love Sprint, they got the iPhone 5 for my son for free. Haha, it was a technical error, but it still went through! :)

Hey all! Just signed up with Android Central, have been lurking around this thread for the past 24 hours. you guys have been helpful, and I figured I should return the favor.

Just finished chatting with Sprint and came up with this:

- Sprint -

Sprint: We received your information and will connect you with a Chat Specialist soon.
Heather G.: I would like to inform you that there is date fixed for it and our technicians are working on it.
Heather G.: Once this gets out, you will get the notification.
You: Thanks for getting to me.
Heather G.: My pleasure.
Heather G.: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
You: I realize I will get a notification. I am trying to figure out what the date is
Heather G.: Please do not worry you will get it on your phone and then you can update it instantly without any hassle.
You: Bought the phone in April.. kinda been waiting on pins and needles for ICS[
You: You stated that a date has been set.. What is that date?
Heather G.: This is November 20th but this could be a slight delay but our technicians are working on it to complete it within the time frame provided.
You: Thank you for looking into this..
You: November 20th for the LG Viper ICS update?
You: Or is it set to be Jelly Bean then?
You: I've heard both.
Heather G.: This might be for both but as of now this is for ICS. Rest it will be updated online once it gets out.
You: Thank you for your time. You have been more helpful and informed than anyone I have yet to speak to.
Heather G.: You are most welcome. Did I fully address all the reasons for your chat today?
You: Yep! thanks!
Heather G.: Please click on 'Exit and complete survey' to complete the survey. It will be a great help.

.
Heather G.: Thanks for being such a valued customer. Have a wonderful day ahead.
Take care
You: You too!

I'm saying those two because where I am there is only 3g sprint..... everyother company is smart and actually wants to keep people in this area because everyone else has 4g here

Re: [SOURCE][CWM]ProjectPanda for Viper LTE

I'm not really worried about it anymore, sure it would be nice to have it but what can we do other than wait it out.

What if I root my phone and install ics? Will it brick it? Has anyone done it?

This is bull we keep getting lied to about the updates and Sprint does not give a damn they are a bunch of morons. So are we getting updates to ICS or jellybean if at all. Every time I plug my phone into lg mobile support it tells me that new software is ready to install it get half way through the install process then get the same error messages problem commucating between phone and computer why the hell

Welcome to the world of Sprint and Android updates. They will never give a date that is accurate but we will get it just have to wait it out

The lesson that I've learned with android is this: don't buy an android product if you aren't happy with what it has out of the box.

And the truth of the matter is that no one's life should be improved by the software update. I post because I like goofing off on the forum, but actually carrying when the update comes?... it has no real impact on anyone's life, and that has to be kept in perspective.

True, Sprint originally said they weren't upgrading this device to ICS prior to the site showing that the LG Viper has 4.0.4. Also, no formal announcement, nor date given. LG decides whether their going to update not Sprint.

That is a true statement. This is an amazing GB device that, upon rooting and installation of all my apps for root users, has become a wicked little device indeed. If all of you just ABSOLUTELY have to have ICS (which is slick I admit, but not a life-determining factor) install Linux, download the open-source code and compile your own build.
Seriously, read the forums in depth to learn your device inside and out.

I have an 8 core 2.8ghz w/ 32gb of memory system doing nothing but idling away, and perferably, why are we not pushing for JB? What more is it going to take to get a device like this up to speed?

I have Ubuntu what do I need to do.

Alot, and hopefully do it right because if you do compile and theres an error, you could flash that and brick your phone completely (possibly but by no means will this always happen). Theres also the problem about not having the proprietary files needed to do the build. You would have to figure out how to pull those from your phone. Its definitely more than just installing all the tools and compiling. I do not suggest going that route and flashing your build.
