[Theme] Ice Cream Sandwich for CM7: v 1.6 Update: 8 New Colors - xda-developers
I found a fix for the Black Text on Black Notifications here, but I don't know how to apply it!! Please help. D:

What rom are you using?

I can help either applying the theme fix are give instructions on how to do it yourself.

I'll p.m. the possible, just note that it may not work as each rom is different, the best. If it does not work, post a question to Jerry about how to fix it.

OKAY! I figured it out. The instructions are as follows:
"Put the xml in the right location in the framework-res.apk using Winzip or something. Then either push it to your phone or put in your ROM and flash it again."
Now, I'm not familiar with xml editing, so I'm going to need some help (I know, who knew, right? )...
But at least now I know exactly what I have to do!!

xml editing is pretty easy as long as it is decompiled into readable English other wise you well be staring at binary hexadecimal.

You need to have adb install to push it to your phone, read the stickies on how to install android platfrom-tools.

If you go to digitalhouseoftreats.com, I've written a comprehensive tutorial about editing XML using a tool called apktool.

Okay, I'll check that out. What I really need help is placing an XML in the framework-res.apk. I have notepad ++ and an apk manager. If you could help me ASAP, that'd be wonderful.

Apktool will decompile apks and decode the XML. Then you modify the appropriate XML and recompile the apk (framework-res). Notepad++ works well for editing once they are decoded.

If you already have the XML file all you need to do is take the framework-res.apk and open it up using something like 7zip and placing it where it belongs. That's really easy.

I p.m.ed you are zip file that you flash in recovery. What Anthony is talking about in regards to 7zip is pretty simple, apktool is better, but building from source is the best: but with the later you really need to know what you are doing.

Okay. I'm just trying to put an xml file in the framework-res.apk. That's all. I honestly have no idea how to decompile apk's, tutorials make no sense to me, I really don't know what I'm doing, and I'm quite frustrated. If either of you have the heart to help a young noob out from step 1, (and it's totally fine if you don't), well, that'd be really nice. I just need to start over and comprehend every little thing I need to do to complete the task of putting an xml file in the framework-res.apk starting from Square One.

If your frustrated then take a break for a while (like ten minutes), and go for a walk. Calming down does help a lot when learning something new. And I'm still a nood, I/ve only been at then for 4 months now. :D

After your walk read a little bit and post in this thread any questions you have about a topic, copy/paste the topic for easier understand of the question.

Well, I ate a bacon burger and sat down and breathed... and I feel alot better. ;)
But, like I said, I just want to place an xml in the framework-res.apk. I started using anthonycr's tutorial on DHoT, but then I saw it required a decompiled SystemUI.apk folder. I honestly have no idea how to do either, so I really don't know what to do at this point. I need LOTS of help. :p

Just place the xml file in the folder that it needs to go in using 7zip, much easier, and just use apktool not apkmanager.

Place the apktool.jar, aapt (use the one from android platform-tools) and the apktool.bat in Windows/System32 folder. That way all you need to do is type the following command is "cmd"

Code:
apktool d "your.apk"

Just be sure to cd to the to where ever the apk file is.

to find out what the options are for apktool just do as follow.

Code:
apktool

Okay, 7Zip is up, you've been a huge help, and thanks!!
The last thing I need to figure out is where I need to put the xml in the framework-res.apk.
The instructions say "the right location". Lolwut. I don't know what that would be...
