ICS Theme for ZVD-based Froyo Roms?

Is there an ICS theme (dialer, contacts, launcher, status bar, etc) available for use on ZVD-based Froyo ROMs like Reborn or sRom?

Unfortunately, I have to stick to a Froyo-based ROM because in my experience Gingerbread-based ROMs have poor streaming audio performance (some types of streaming audio links don't work and others take 20-30 secs to buffer before playing, while on Froyo I never had problems with any streaming audio links and it would only take around 5 secs for most streaming audio to buffer and start playing).

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to Android, so be gentle ;-)

Thanks!

P.S. I have rooted and tried out the following ROMs -- Reborn, sROM, and the CM7 ROM from thekraven. I really liked CM7 but couldn't live with the poor streaming audio performance, so I'm back to the Froyo-based ROMs. Hopefully, Google fixed streaming audio in ICS, so I won't have to worry about CM9-based ROMs.

there are no themes i have seen for the dialer etc. You can use adw or launcher pro etc and use the ics themes they have but its not perfect. As far as cm9 goes....idk if we will ever get it for the optimus s. Time will tell tho

Widget Locker has a pretty sweet ICS theme in its latest version. I have seen the stock ICS Launcher floating around, but it did not get rave reviews. There is also an ICS theme for Go Launcher that looks pretty nice, too. I'm sure the fonts are out, too.

Also, there is this theme, but it designed for HDPI resolution and our little Optimus is MDPI. I did see a thread in here recently that detailed how to use or convert HDPI themes that you could try.

If you change the LCD to 130 hdpi themes will work! Check out my topic on the subject! I'm using an hdpi ics cm7 theme from the market on my phone.

Thanks. WidgetLocker looks pretty nice. I'll check it out.

there is a port of the cm 7 theme on xda. There is a thread around here with a link

If I'm thinking of the same port as you, I think that's still a cm7 theme, right? I need to stay on Froyo for now, so cm7 themes won't work for me, unfortunately.

I used the ICS market theme by changing the LCD density, but I'm running CM7 and this wouldn't work on froyo. When you tried CM7 did you try a different kernel?

"Latests build 10-23 have BobZhome's IHO 3.3 kernel installed.
BobZhome's IHO 3.11 Kernel. Added back Interactive governor, should help with audio streaming."

I'll try that kernel to see if it helps. Really apppreciate you pointing that out to me. Thanks.

No luck.

I've tried a few of the kernels listed in thekraven's original post: BobZhome's IHO 3.3 kernel (the included one and the recompiled one), Xionia Redux, and picasticks (I thought trying a kernel based on the LG sources might make a difference). None of them make a difference in the audio streaming performance. It still generally takes 20-30 secs to start playing a stream vs. 10 secs or less in the Froyo and stock ROMs.

If anyone is using a ZVH-based CM7 ROM, I'd be interested in seeing if you have the same results as I do with a ZVD-based CM7 ROM. Anyone who wants to test can do so easily enough. Simply install the "TWiT Play" app from the Android Market. Launch it, hit play, and let me know how long it takes for the audio to start streaming.

I checked my wife's SGS2 phone (Epic Touch 4G) that has Gingerbread on it. The audio stream starts playing almost immediately on that phone, so it may be more of a CM7 issue than a Gingerbread issue.

Thanks for all the help.

Three things that this brings to mind:
  1. Something in the user agent that is causing a higher quality stream to be sent? CM7 is AOSP so it does not have some of the proprietary bits or the device identification built in.
  2. It could be a radio issue. ZVH is known to cause some data connection issues. But if you've tried different ROMs and both ZVD and ZVH work fine under stock-based ROMS, this is less likely.
  3. sROM, Your Mom ROM, and some others have an ad-blocking hosts file included; CM7 does not. If the app you are trying to run has ads, that could really speed up or slow your load time down depending on your connection and if they are pulled first.
I have not seen a post for a ZVH-based CM7 for this device yet.

In response to your good points above:

I've tried multiple audio streams (using "A Online Radio"), and they all exhibit this long delay before the audio stream starts playing.

I've only tried ZVD-based ROMs. The froyo ROMs (stock and those based on stock) all stream without delay. The CM7/Gingerbread ROMs all have the 20-30 sec delay before playing the streaming audio.

The stock Sprint ZVD ROM doesn't have ad-blocking, so I don't think that's the issue.

I'm hoping someone with a ZVH-based Gingerbread ROM can let me know whether or not they're seeing a delay using the "TWiT Play" app. I like Gingerbread but have been avoiding the ZVH ROMs until Sprint/LG re-release it without the bugs. If the delay isn't present in the ZVH ROMs, then I may just have to bite the bullet and upgrade anyway.

Thanks for your thoughts.
