ICS upgrade progress?

The GS2 is easy to root and the roms available on xda are better than anything you will get from AT&T. CM9 and Task's AOKP are awesome and there are great mods of Samsung's roms by shoman and others. Read up on it and go for it, you'll be glad you did.

The only update we will ever see coming from ATT is the dreaded 2.3.6. If you want an ICS then go buy a new phone or flash a rom

I am giving AT&T until June 21 to release the updates they promised months ago. After that, I'm going to root all my devices and go with custom ICS roms.

Watch for the first version of Jellybean to be released. That'll be a good indicator (see the Captivate being released with Eclair, getting Froyo when Gingerbread came out, and so on.)

I think I would rather use a flip phone than install anything that AT&T releases. AOKP all the way for me. Been running ICS 4.0.4 for a while now and love it.

I finally bit the bullet and rooted my GSII last night. Went with ShishirROM first because I wanted to try out the new TouchWiz. It was way to laggy. Just flashed AOKP this morning and it is running very smooth so far.
