If I buy a new G4 today, do I risk the bootloop problem?

Hello,

My G4 died a few months ago and I lost all my photos. Bootloop, it was a 505-number. It was fixed, but now it's broken again. The screen can only show 4% lightness, so I can't see the screen.

I need a new phone, but I love the camera on this phone and the buttons on the back and the knock-on thing. If I get another phone, I will be knocking on it repeatedly and wonder why it doesn't start :-)

But do I dare buying a new g4? Is the newer versions effected by the bootloop issue? Anyone know?

Let's put it this way. Same thing happened with my G4 and I got it repaired. That was back in Jan / Feb and so far so good. If it went again I would not be looking to get another G4. Yes it's a good handset, but by now there are better ones out there.

I'd look to a newer phone as well, but hard to say on the G4 problems. Yes, there's been far fewer reports of the latest batches having the bootloop, but there's still one here and there that pop up. So does this mean it's ok for the most part or those new batches just haven't been in use long enough to surface? Who knows.
