No excuse. We need a 'one click and done' option like iPhones have. It's been over 11 freakin' years and we're still doing manual restores?!

It's called TWRP, and for those phones for which it's available, it's "one and done" for backing up or restoring. I do a full backup before each update (just in case - I've had two brick phones over the years).
